Is a 150 ww HPS too much for this?

well i know i need more lighting than just the AG and i hear great things about HPS for flowering and my strain is auto flowering so but does anyone think heat would be a problem if i did get a 150 hps? even if i got another fan ? is it expensive to run on your E bill?where could i get one i swear i seen bulbs at home depot but what about a socket for it dont HPS need a bigger one and a ballast no clue how to hook it up? Answers to these mind bogglers would be helpful...:weed:

GOOGLE !!!! go to a grow store get a decent light and ballast. Ask for an air cooled 150w hps. The bulb will have a casing around it with fans on either end, to cool the bulb and exhaust hot air. Letting us know the size of room would help as well. Air cooled is the way to go. You don't have the hot air from the bulb blowing around your room. :D

Do it right spend some money and get decent bulbs and a good ballast. Ask at your grow store for a 150w hps air cooled. By the way, how many plants you plan on growing under a 150w?

I know the hood is plastic and the 150s do get much hotter than cfls im not sure if anyone uses a 150 in the ag im sure someone has tried it just gotta find them. And no the 150hps wont just screw in you need a ballast as well bt it could be fitted im sure(not sure about melting) ")

My buddy has a 600w inside a plastic casing. Does not melt. I have two 600w in a glass casing inside a cabinet, both work extremely well. You want to throw your 150 in your aero garden?? better off getting some soil and throwing some pots under your 150w.

COOLER air is pulled through the intake, pushing the cool air around your bulb and immediately extracting the hot air through the exhaust. If you intake cool air, and not grow room air. Your bulb will stay cool, no question about it. I have never seen one melt. But I have never seen someone intaking warm air from their grow room either. :D

150 shouldn't get to hot. I have a 400w aircooled hood it really only takes the heat away from the light the room is still just as hot before I got the fan. Only thing the fan did was make the light hood cool to the touch. As for heat put off I really don't think the air cooled hoods are that great or maybe I just have to big of a grow space for mine.

i have a small 4 in fan right now and the cabinet is 31 in or something like that but i wanted to take of the hood use it as back lighting and somehow suspend the light with bungees or something also i plan on getting one more small fan for an exaust with a carbon filter but i figure ill doo that when they start to reak. anyway how much would a 150 watt bulb and ballast cost and would it spike my e bill?

E-conolight.com look in the vapor tight section the have one for 20 but might be out of stock so there is a 25 dollar one to back it up.

Do you own a cool tube? Looks pretty much the same as my buddies. Works excellent, it's been nothing but good to us. Air cooled is ballin. But to each their own :bigjoint:

question about how that 25 dollar hps plugs in? right into the wall do i gotta do some wiring not really an electrian if u get my drift also how much do those cool tubes run?

Yeah man, I am using HPS, Gonna add another 150W. I also have CFL Shoplight for side lighting. I dont have a cool tube for my HPS, but I have it well vented. But if your gonna get like a 400WHPS + it would be good to get a cooltube.

Your welcome to take a look of my grow. You can see what I am growing in, in some of my pics. I am using the 150WHPS plus the side lighting wthout a cooltube. But like I said I have good airflow. The link is in my sig.
