Grow journal - Outdoors 2024 - Frisian Dew, Frisian Duck, Sweet Tooth Auto, Early Skunk

Harvested most of the Frisian Dew today and hung it to dry. Most of the harvest are popcorn buds or smaller buds, and a few bigger ones, hanging on the right side of the drying rack.

It would have benefited from some more weeks of fattening up. So I've left a bunch of the smallest buds on the plant and put it back outside. Worst case? I lose buds I couldn't be bothered harvesting. Best case? They fatten up and survive without bud rot and I can harvest them in a few weeks.

Did 3 buckets worth of budwashing, one with hydrogen peroxide, but surprisingly very little dirt or bugs or anything. I guess the week of non-stop rain has washed off the worst.

Now just have to dial in the drying room.

Yeah it rains so much here I see budwashing as pointless some places you might need it more like in a dry dusty environment or whatever here it is so windy and wet nature does it for you

Frisian Duck is fattening up. I'm surprised they're this slow. At this pace it will take at least 2 or 3 weeks to finish

Same. They're both starting to look really nice. Somehow the Early Skunk is the best-looking of all the plants. And it had the least care and attention and just sat in the ground.

Could be luck of the draw or just the better genetics for your particular spot suppose if you run one or two early skunk next year and see if it does as well if it does then your probably onto a winner assuming it smokes good cos outdoors it's all about what works for you that is what matters most

Might do just that. Good idea.

Next year will be 3 autos and 1 photoperiod. I like the idea of finishing in early September before all the rain but after all the strongest sun. Early skunk could be the photoperiod if it "wins" this year on taste/effects.

Also bud best way is to spread your bets with autos semi autos/earlys and then also full on photos s for the later finish some years one does better than the others

Do you know how early the earliest, early versions are? Because I did consider it, I feel like no matter what photoperiod I pick it will be late in my climate. Like the Frisian Dew is supposed to be "early" but would still be going rn if it wasn't for budrot.

Mighty mite mighty passion any of the Nordic types and stuff like that I was talking about rather than F1 fast versions cos with those it's luck of the draw depending what pheno it is and what auto is used in the cross that determines how long it takes then again I know a few who had luck with sad fast and cream caramel fast outdoors over here if you wanna go that way those two might be worth a look bud

That's not that much different from Frisian Dew, for instance, and it's not "early" at all in my climate. Is early really only a week early? Like that's pointless IMO

With the F1 versions only a bit I don't pay attention to times quoted ever as there rarely close there a lil faster but that's only if the auto used was a fast indica Dom one otherwise not really with some fv

Early skunk starting to turn purple, cool cool cool.

They're both pretty thick. Don't know how long to wait. Will probably give them a few more weeks if weather allows it.

Trimmed all the larger buds. They're still small and larfy and airy, but there's still a decent amount. Will probably end up making good edibles.

Still have all the small stuff, will throw it all in the bowl trimmer tomorrow and bag it.


First picture is during trim, just to show off a decent amount of buds. Pretty lazy trim even on the finished buds, but it's good enough!

Just had bud rot in two buds on one of the Frisian Ducks, going to harvest them on Tuesday I think.

Having contractors over on Monday and they will be in my drying room, so.. Tuesday it is!

I hope the mold doesn't spread on the harvested buds. I've trimmed and bagged two big grove bags worth of Frisian Dew, going to let that sit and cure for several weeks before inspecting. Not sure what else I can do.

Everything gets a hydrogen peroxide bath before drying, so hopefully it helps.

Spent like 4 hours yesterday and as you can see in the picture I didn't get very far. Harvested the Skunk and the Frisian Duck in the ground and all the biggest buds from the two big Frisian Ducks.

They look a lot smaller in the photo, but those buds are fist-sized. Going to continue today. Might end up leaving all the pop corn buds. It's simply not worth it for me, I don't smoke that much and I plan on growing more next year.

Currently, I have probably... 5 times as much weed as I can use this year.

So pretty! I highly recommend an electric bowl trimmer god I hate trimming. Although it's better with my bowl trimmer. I already want to upgrade my live path to integrate CO2 trimming and pre-freezing.

I just this year bought a manual bowl trimmer, which saved me several hours so far just trimming all the small nuggets.

My budget doesn't allow any of the fancy things you're considering, but I for sure want to find ways to avoid trimming as much as possible. Even the part of prepping buds for the bowl trimmer seemed like more work than I'm willing to do.

Also, bud washing. I need to find a better way than doing it one bud at a time. I need some serious barrels.

Next year I'm going to focus on training and trimming so I'm left with only big buds, not all the small shit. (The smiley button in the text editor isn't working, so I'm stuck with )

All that is left after harvest. The remains of Early Skunk, just left those small buds to mature, wanted to see how well it handled more rain and cold etc.

Frisian Ducks + Early Skunk is still drying. Will update the journal when everything is curing, with a picture of all the grove bags
