Never ran into this….need some help

Hello, I’m having a an issue w/ my current grow. I was given 2 plants by a friend about 3 weeks ago. They were in sad shape to say the least. They were 5-6 weeks old, hadn’t been topped or trained so they were very vertical. I nursed them back to health and they look great now compared to before.
They’re almost to the point of flipping to flower, but I’m seeing an odd condition on a small number of the leaves.
After transplanting to a 5 gal pot and letting them adjust, I cut the top 1/3rd of the plant off at the main stem. This left me w/ 10-12 main tops that I tied down, with a bunch of exposed sites in the dead center. Now all those exposed sites have started new growth in the center, with the main tops forming a circle around the perimeter. The canopy of nice and even.
The issue is many of the new small sites are looking ragged…..tips burned or very dry around the edges.
The main tops are 99% great…..but there is the random leaf that is dry and dying…..no discoloration at all…..just drying up.
I’m wondering, could this be a fungus that is attacking the newest and most vulnerable growth? Could the issue with the new growth be caused by the light being too intense ?
—my lights are 2 HLG led’s, 470w total….turned way back = 300-350ppfd.
—medium is FF KokoBop lightly amended w/ various dry organics. I have had many successful grows with this mix.
—temps 79-81F, RH 58-64%
I usually top a plant a couple times in veg, then tie it down rather aggressively to open it up for a flatter canopy with many tops…..but I’ve never done it this way where the sites are starting from nothing and exposed to such direct light…..
And what could cause a random fan leaf, that’s growing among many totally healthy ones, to just dry up and die?
Anyway, any help or perspective is appreciated. So thanks…IMG_8226.jpegIMG_8227.jpegIMG_8223.jpegIMG_8225.jpeg

You did a nice job bringing it back, and it looks really pretty darn good. At first blush I'd say it was a little heat/light stress, but your temps and lighting seem right on. Possibly it got a bit over nuted, the leaves are a really dark green and a bit waxy. I don't think it's anything to worry about unless it progresses, my feeling is it will grow out of it. Maybe cut back a hair on N.

Things seem to have gotten better. I’ve decided to let the 2 bigger plants go another week or 2, then flip. By then the 3 seedlings should be big enough to take outside. Pic was yesterday. I’m thinking with the stretch those 2 plants will fill up my space…..IMG_8230.jpeg

Maybe just something leftover from the trauma working its way out. Looks like the path your on now is a good one.

Hey guys….i just thought of something and wanted to get some input.
When I set the small 3 plants outside they’ll be in my backyard. My intent will be to bring them back inside in 11–12 weeks once the others are harvested. So they’ll be vegging the entire time. However, I have these motion lights that come on frequently. While they won’t be shining directly on the plants, they could “interrupt” their dark cycle.
Will this cause any issues, since the plant is just vegging?
I grew outdoors years ago but the grow site was on top of a mountain, miles away from the nearest light..so I didn’t have such things to worry about.
Is this gonna be a problem? Thanks to all.

You'll be fine with the yard light, what might not be fine though is the amount of light that you're getting outdoors. Depending where you are at, here in Minnesota we don't get 14/10 until around April 25th....

I just thought about that…..I’m in SW Virginia and may need to hold out a few weeks.
Thanks for the advice.

taking plants outside then bringing them back into your grow room, isn't such a good idea, your opening yourself up to bugs in the grow room, just FYI

I’m in Roanoke…..love this area. Went to school at Radford and love coming up to Blacksburg. I’m a VT fan for sure.
Heck yea, I wasted a few years at tech, mom went to radford and currently live there now! Glad to.meet some fellow growers in the area!

U bet. I’m an old timer…..finished Radford in 1992 if that tell u anything.
I started growing outdoors my sophomore yr and hit it pretty hard for 7-8yrs. Was lucky enough to have a roommate/friend who was from Roanoke and his family had a 500acre tract up in the hills nearby.
I’ll never forget ordering seeds from the Seed Bank in Amsterdam and being scared to death of getting caught. Almost 2 months passed and we had written it off, when a padded envelope came in the mail.
We really didn’t know a lot but went for it. We had to be the luckiest guys on the planet over the years. Every year we would put out 8-10 plants, would only check on them once every 3/4 weeks. But the worst year we ever had we ended up harvesting 4 huge ones and easily got 5lbs.
Marriage and kids slowed that down but when it became legal I had to jump back in. Believe it or not, I haven’t taken a toke in 10yrs. Had to quit because it was causing panic attacks and massive anxiety.
But I sure do love to grow it. And it makes me a popular guy with all my friends, most of whom still puff. One day I wanna smoke again but I can’t say when. Hell I used to to smoke multiple times a day for years…..
Anyway, didn’t mean to bore U. Happy farming in the NRV. I’ve got one drying now…..and she’s special. According to my friend’s reviews, it’s the best they’ve had in a long time.
Shoot me some pics of your sticky buds if want…..I love looking at pot porn.

Will.do! This is my second year growing, been smoking/ medicating for 25, 38 now... just outdoor now but plan on giving indoor a try as soon as I can make it happen. First year got super.lucky, ran 2 clones from a growers convention in salem and 2 regular seeds which both ended up being female, one of which ended up being 8 feet tall with MONDO calf sized buds, but had to harvest them all early and the giant sativa weeks early due to PM issues,( stupidly growing right next to my garden of cucumbers and others). This year had 4 get pretty big but ended up with only one girl of the 4. The one girl was a bag seed from.some funky stuff I got through a neighbor... she has the weirdest overlapping fingers on her fan leaves and has just been super slow growing and developing the entire time... she's getting frosty but has limited pistils and really not forming what I'm familiar with as buds, just so very leafy!!! From.sharing pictures on here I believe she has some "breath" genetics in her past, now just letting her ride out of curiosities sake more than anything, and ended up running my first ever autos once I had to get rid of the 3 boys. Finally bough my first real seeds this summer from.a farm in Floyd "meadow creek cannabis) so we shall see!! I would love to share some.pics ,last year's first then this year's, last year got almost 3lbs from.4 plants and was pretty darn happy with most of it from my first run but was not prepared to dry the amount I ended up with, and ended up destroying a bunch of the terps with the temps getting way too high. Like I said love talking weed and have really enjoyed the process of growing my own after enjoying if for decades. I just want to absorb as much as I can from those more experienced and knowledgeable than.me. ... the first ones up until the calf sized buds are last year, after that it's the funky one and the only auto I have going left, it's from a breeder out of 757... actually they were the first seeds I ever purchased but ran 1 other of them and 2 sweet tooth autos which sweet tooth was one around in the 2010's I remember and was always gorgeous and killer! 20230923_110644.jpg20230923_110652.jpg20230923_110659.jpg20231009_133700.jpgIMG954279.jpgIMG954277.jpg20240913_131535.jpg20240913_131730.jpg20240913_131335.jpg20240913_131354.jpg
