Greetings, I'm James, wanted to be here and get to know growers who would help me out in growing my plant. I am excited about my first journey in this cannabis world hope there is a grower out there who can give me ideas and insights on everything and how to start. Welcome.
For your first grow, I recommend just one or two plants, you don't want to get overwhelmed by too many.
An easy to grow strain like Super Lemon Haze or Wedding Cake will make things easier.
5 gallon pots do nicely.
Pro-Mix Mycorrhizae is a good growing medium (IMO)
Nutes - your choice, there's so many. A ph-perfect type of fert isn't useful unless you're using RO water.
For light you'll want 30 to 35w led per sq ft of growing area, again, my recommendation is something with Samsun lm301b or lm301h chips and Meanwell or Inventronics drivers.

Have fun

But one day when you want to get max grams from your lamp start doing the small shit like trening nutes........
For now dont overcomplicate it

Search bar is your friend. Check the pinned posts in each sub forum, there's usually a good guide to help you out.

Start small, don't overwhelm yourself or overspend. You can get a smaller light for your first grow, then upgrade and use that old light as a veg lamp. Don't go cheap, just spend wisely.

I like hydro but I'm like a C+ hydro grower overall, B- if creativity counts for anything.

Soil is very forgiving and I'm starting to appreciate it. Buildasoil on YouTube has wonderful educational material with great presentation, and very little BS. He is selling a product, but he's pretty forward about building off Coots methods and providing the information for ingredients that are essentially what his brand provides so you can build your own soil.

Also, start thinking about what you want to smoke. There are many options and alot of bullshit.

Did you ever get started? Grow medium?
I'm on my first grow in hydro. Well, first grow since the early 80's which was in the stone (d) age, so it might as well be my first ever grow.
I'm on day 58 (started on June 29) and my 4 plants in hydro are now in flower.
I wished many times since i started that I had grown in soil first to get more of the hang of it, before going to hydro, but now I'm glad I bit the bullet and jumped into the grow pool head first in the deep end. RDWC for the win. bongsmilie

For an inside grow you will want a power bar, tent, light, timers, exhaust fan, filter for exhaust fan, a couple of circulating fans and a combo thermometer and humidity gage. In my mind this would be the minimum equipment for an inside grow.
Next is what medium you're going to grow in. Hydro. Coco, Organic, Soil?
Nutrients?
Make sure your tent has plenty of height! 6 feet is a suggested minimum. You will be surprised how tall your plants can get.
I see a lot of people using multi part fertilizer with a lot of problems. I recommend GH maxigrow and maxibloom to start out. You can grow beautiful plants with those 2 and nothing else.
What type of plants, auto or photo? I recommend photo's to start. Autos sound good but there is little margin for error. A cheap 10 dollar timer is all you need to flower photo's.
Where do you get seeds? I like NASC, they have a good selection, quick shipping and their freebies are usually top notch. There are plenty of reputable seed banks you can get some good recommendations on this site.
For an outside grow seek help elsewhere I suck at outside grows and have given up trying.
