In other the news, the offspring has blown the minds off of her teachers in the first week. She took Algebra and Geometry before high school, so she's sitting in an honors Algebra 2 class as a freshman with juniors and seniors, and she's already been lauded as the star of the class. Then on the music front she was put in the sophomore theory class at the beginning of the week because of scheduling problems and said "YOLO" and tested out of that class, with an 85% on the pre-test when the class average was 35%. They won't put her in a junior level AP class as a freshman, so they gave her a free elective and her choir teacher has already made motions to have her lead the All-State choir.

Laugh, and she was scared she wasn't ready for high school on the first day. :D

That's wonderful! How proud you must be.

Am I the asshole? My sister in law has asked us to be caretaker for her son while they go on a cruise. Her husband is dying of cancer and this was a last wish for him.
Her son is a grown man about 27 years old with mental problems. Every single time she has gone on vacation or left him alone for any length of time he has attempted suicide. So far he has crashed 2 cars and jumped off of 4 different balconies. I said no way will we babysit him period. I'm willing to be his guardian in conjunction with a 24 hour caretaker but will not be the caretaker. So it looks like we won't be going to Houston at the end of August and the sister in law stopped talking to us.
Nope not at all

Mornin' folks.

More neighborhood fun yesterday. Went down to the PO and saw 5 emergency vehicles at a property near the bottom of the road. As we came back up the hill we saw a Bible and some other printed material strewn across the road. Then we saw this Gandalf-looking guy with blood running down his face standing in the yard....yelling at the cops. The guy who owns the place lives in Denver...so we gave him a call to see if he knew something was up. He said he had been tipped off by another neighbor and was currently watching it all unfold via his security cams. Evidently the guy had been there all afternoon...jiggling doorknobs and mumbling "I have Grace" over and over and over again. He then broke into the guy's garage and the video footage shows him just standing there...in place....for like 2 hours...at like 3:30 AM....mumbling....then he falls over and hits his head on the table and is out for 30 mins. He was then back outside and that's when the neighbor saw him and called 911....

Ah...rural life. Seems to be getting more common to have folks wandering around/looking to get shot...

Happy Friday, y’all. Got a mid-morning appointment with a luthier down the road. My guitar needs work - gonna cost some bucks, as I suspect frets and a saddle replacement at the least. Saddle is cheap. Frets = $. Got a couple weeks between gigs so the timing is good, but I hate handing it over. Wonder if the dude barters for some fresh cured or newly pressed product. How do I bridge that one, lol? I’m guessing he’s cash only. Talented with stringed instruments though.

I’m away for like half a day and it’s all hookers & blow and randos getting concussed. Jeebus. Happy Friday indeed!

I'd be glad to trade one perp for some hookers and blow. (I could get away with the blow...the hookers...not so much:rolleyes:)

Forgot to add that on the same night...our neighbors below us said a drunk AF lady drove into their driveway "looking for the campground". When they told her there was no campground/camping on our road she sped off. Then they said she drove up and down the road about 5 times...

fun times in rural 'merica!
