Raised Bed depth?

WOndering is 12" sufficient for a raised bed ? Transplanting potted plants this week. Thanks. I have always dug individual holes but this time gonna put several plants with my mix in an above ground sort of deal , way easier for me. Thanks

Is the bed open on the bottom?

I have 12” raised beds for all my outdoor veggies like tomatoes and peppers. They do have open bottoms. They work very well.

Oh sorry. Its on the ground. Just plywood cut and filled with my mix. IDK how much root will eventually go through to the ground but its 'ok ish ' soil but clay ish. I was thinking 18" might work best. I have a huge pile of compost mix a full pu truck full.

You'll be fine with an open bottom. Compost is gold, but not 100%. I add topsoil. Like humans, plants need minerals.
