Sleep Medicine

Does anyone have a good recipe for this?

I am trying to make some that we can use for insomnia.
My current (untried) process,
14g of "Garliccot Bubblegum" THC 9% and CBD 15%
combine that with 28g of "Sour Brulee" THC .56% and CBD 15%
I plan on creating an infusion of coconut oil using both of these.
I probably try about 125 ML of coconut oil and 1 TSP of sunflower lecithin and put it in size 00 capsules.

Does this sound like it will work?
any sugestions?
TIA
Mike

Y not use something that has some potency and is knows.to help you sleep? Why all the CBD? Your not gonna get a sedative effect from CBD until you break like 600mg

Let ur deta9 cure extra out and also mature plant till almost death and plant will have higher sedative and sleep effects. Cbn does convert from aging quicker than u think exp if ifs ambered harvested plants

420 day so I thought I’d try to make some CBN tincture.
Started with 28g of home grown Grand Daddy Purple. Coarse grind using a paint stirrer.
Decarbed at 240 for 2 hrs (hopefully that converted the THC to CBN.

Put the full OZ of decarbed flower in the “Potency Pod” of the Levo, then added 250ml of “everclear” and started the infusion 4 hrs at 160. If this works at all I’ll try a longer infusion at 130. “Magical Butter Machine” has a recipe for tincture using 1oz of bud 1 cup of alcohol, and infuse at 130 for 8 hrs.

Figgure a 20% loss in THC/CBN from the infusion process. GDP 17% to 22% THC

According to this article I should get about 35% of TCH converted to CBN.
https://www.periodicedibles.com/blog/how-to-make-cbn-edibles
The video at the 14 min mark shows how they converted TCH to CBN
They show about a 35 to 37% conversion of the THC to CBN

Using this formula:
28g x 1000 = 28000 mg 28000 mg x 17% = 4,700 mg of THC
4,700 MG of THC converted to CBN at 35% = 1,666 MG of CBN and 3,094 mg of THC
Then figure 80% infusion using Everclear, and final product would be 2,475 MG of TCH and 1,332 mg of CBN
After evaporation of alcohol adding 125ml of coconut oil and 1 tsp of sunflower lecithin.
This filled 154 .9ml 00 capsules.

If my math is correct that would give each capsule 7.78 mg of CBN and 14.46 mg of THC.
I can tell that there is not the “high” from THC and the CBN does seem to cause drowsiness.
So far this does seem to help with sleep.

My biggest concern in all of this, I have no way of testing the THC/CBN levels.
I’ll have to see if there is a lab in my area, and what it would cost to test.

How'd that work out? I'm really curious about the conversion to CBN.

Odd perhaps, but Oregon is the only state in the country (from what I've read) that bans the sale of CBN, I believe mostly because commercially it's an "artificially derived cannabinoid", and the OLCC wasn't comfortable with the unregulated industrial process of making CBN. Finding a 'natural' way to make it consistently would be great.

I notice that Colorado Botanical sells CBD/CBN full spectrum oil.

Well, not as I had hoped.
I actually took this into a lab in Medford and spent $80$.
Turns out I had 15mg per ml of THC, .05mg per ml of CBN
My double decarb didn't convert any THC.
I also waited an extra 10 days to harvest, my trics were mostly amber.

I do notice that this strain is very calming.

That is sobering to actually have your stuff tested, I've yet to do that. I'm in Multnomah County so I'm sure there are facilities here if I want to. Sorry to hear the experiment didn't work out. Are you going to keep trying? I think the difficulty in consistently mass producing 'organic' CBN is what caused the commercial operations to devise an artificial alternative.

I actually picked up the product below at a dispensary nearby, I suspect there just isn't any enforcement of that Oregon law. I haven't found out what goes into making "Artificially Derived Cannabinoid", and if that means it's actually fully synthetic. That does concern me a bit.

I'm not sure, I kind of sleep pretty well from any Indica smoked, but I guess there's are some certain combinations that works better

I have found that the more you process and try to make it better the worse it gets. You can try all that mixing and ballencing out the THC, CBD, CBN, or whatever but the WHOLE package works the the best.

My tried and well proven sleep oil is one once of INDICA (deffinatly not sateva) infused into one cup of MCT. Anything I've tried beyond that did nothing or it weakened the product.

My own personal sleep med is RSO with 1/10 each of lecithin and MCT. .2ml from a surenge on a fig cookie chased by a glass of milk half an hour before bed time. BTW, I'm a very heavy user and that works for me.

Unless you are a heavy user don't start out with the .2ml dose. You'll probally go green and end up hanging your head in the toilet. Even if you are a heavy user PLEASE start out easy it you go this way.

Has anyone tried the different types of terpenes?

IMG_20240528_110122.jpg

Picked up some different mixes from an on line retailer Lab Effects
There are quite a few out there, was unaware it was available in small amounts

Having success with a 1:1 THC/CBD extraction and reduction to infuse chocolate for sleep meds
It is given to a non user of cannabis in place of Ambien
Trying to fine tune the recipe for a little more sedation
Been watching the different posts about CBN and other solutions
Anybody have experience with terpenes?

My wife is a non-user, except for sleep oil. I've made all kinds of mixtures, but one tops the list. One once of decarbed INDICA infused into one cup of MCT.

1/2 of a dropper full 30 minutes before bed and she sleeps like a baby.

CBD may help with sleep but I think it's the THC. I've made the same oil from hemp but it didn't work. I've also found that the more you process it to make it better the weaker it gets.

It is the THC that helps with sedation and sleep
I did CBD only chocolates and they were minimally effective
That is why i like thunder struck 10%THC/15%CBD
The CBD seems to balance the THC making it tolerable for non users
My recipe needs A little boost in sedation and thinking terpenes may be able go help
Increases in CBD have little effect and increases in THC bring on a psychoactive experience which the user does not want
So many variables trying to make edibles for individual needs

They have crossed the plants so much that you don't really know what you are getting. In the past Big Bud was the go to for sleep. It seems to have sort of faded away like most of the older strains. The best I've found to replace it is Critical Mass.

The reason I avoid CBD for sleep is it blocks the THC from going into the CB receptors. It you are trying to keep a non-user from getting too much just make it weaker. Most recipes start out at 7 grams of budd per cup of oil.
