PSA for the floraflex crowd. I noticed yesterday some.plants weren't getting fully watered and saw some emitters were barely flowing. Pulled some tubes off and one port had a chunk of debris almost fully blocking it. Removed the top from the bubbler and discovered a bit of peat, perlite and maybe undissolved chunks of maxibloom. I'm going to put my pumps in a filter bag. This would be a nightmare to fix deep in flower.20240310_100914.jpg

morning, all. woke up to the old man leaving for a two day work trip so i get to clean the house to my liking without having anyone gripe at me about what i'm throwing out. this is my idea of bliss. haha! is anyone like me? i love to declutter and get rid of things - so much so that sometimes i have to admit defeat when i'm turning around and buying something that i threw out six months prior.
just checked all the plants outside - lettuces and spinach survived. the onions are big enough that they'll be fine, unless we get some crazy freeze in the next few weeks. on the porch a couple of zinnias have popped, but that's about it. no :leaf: yet. i took off humidity domes because i don't like how saturated all the cells look. my day will consist of cleaning, getting some work done, and picking up dog poop. i try to ignore it but we're at max capacity and it's cold enough that it's not a disgusting job. i much prefer poopsicles to soggy mush :spew:

The poo sludge is why I go out whenever the dogs use the bathroom to pick it up. 3 am and need to find pants and boots? Better than a minefield of poo sludge come spring when the snow melts o_O

Blech
my favorite spring time game is : "DooDoo or Dead Leaf?" best as a two player game, so you can get a second opinion as to whether what you're looking at is indeed, a random dog turd, or if it's a dead leaf. this is also a good game in the fall if you're in the vicinity of a tree that's dropped brown leaves vs vibrantly colored leaves.
there are a couple of local businesses that do nothing but clean up dog shit. i've never used them but mannnnn have i considered it.

So upon further examination, little Purple Lemonade Auto ain’t quite ready. Removed any necrotic foliage, cleaned her up etc, but gonna let her keep going. No greater tragedy than cutting early. This little plant has been a fun experiment :)

This is on the supply side not the waste side. I figured out I fill that res by hauling buckets of water upstairs. Buckets are multipurpose in the growing game, rootballs, recycled medium etc. The other res is filled from a hose bibb so those manifolds look pristine in comparison, no debris at all. I bought a filter bag for a pool vac to put my pump in. Should fix the issue.

Oh, that's the one you haul water to. You need clean buckets. But the sock should work.

I always keep my pumps in bags.

I can't use pump bags because my setup requires that I use the pump's bottom suction cups. So I just cut up a pump bag and wrap a piece around the pump's intake vents and tuck it in. You can secure it with a zip tie if need be. Works great, I never get any debris in my pipes or sprayers.

Mornin'. Heading to 60F. More melting today. Still measurable snow in the forecast for Wed/Thurs...so it may actually happen. :) Most of the time they start out with big predictions and then whittle away at em til it becomes a(nother) forecasted Sunny day. C'mon BIG dump....

I hope all is cool on your side of things this AM.....
