White Christians fighting for freedom from tyranny with guns and guts appeals to a large segment of the republican base and many are Russia hawks too. When Trump and his cronies are gone, and the rest of Russia's useful idiots isolated, the GOP will come around, it is too internally divisive an issue with Israel involved, Trump disqualified soon and probably tightly muzzled in jail too.

If he has the Israeli lobby at his throat over Ukrainian funding as much as Israel's. Trump is the heart and core of pro-Russian sentiment in the GOP, most of the rest who were flirting with them will be scared off or already are. He is not alone, but the ones around him driving the agenda have been identified by the national security community and others. Guys like Banon are headed for jail and guys like Alex Jones for trouble and there are some in Trump's inner circle.

It might be a dark cold winter in European Russia if Vlad does something stupid this year. Russia could be attacked by hundreds of cheap suicide drones many of which are likely to get to their power transformer targets that are spread around European Russia and largely undefended. Let hope he doesn't attack the Ukrainian power system this winter because it will probably mean the lights going off in western Russia. Ukraine is much better prepared for this kind of war than Russia IMO and has had a year to prepare defenses, arrange backup supplies and now has the means to strike back in kind.
Having the lights go out in western Russia would put a crimp in their war efforts and in Vlad's efforts to stay in power. Freezing in the dark with no food has a certain effect on the population and military.

Russia has been saving up the kinzhal missiles they have been making for winter. They will try and overwhelm the defences and take out as much as they can on one go. Repeat if necessary. I am sure Ukraine can hit a lot of targets itself but it will be a long cold winter for both sides.

Like I said, if Vlad does something stupid... Ukraine has been down this road before and probably hardened transformers as much as possible and spares have been ordered ahead of time etc plus they can get help from allies. Ukraine has lots of generators and connections with the European grid, being down this road before they also have plenty of woodstoves and lots of rubble to burn. Russia would have to rob transformers from Siberia and the eastern republics for European Russia, a politically bad move in the middle of winter.
Even those missiles have accuracy problems when it comes to hitting transformers and Ukraine has organized and set up point gun defenses near them and some are radar controlled that can intercept cruise missiles. We will see, but if the lights go out in European Russia this winter it will be a desperate situation, more desperate than in Ukraine, they tried their best there last winter when they were a lot stronger.

If Vlad does something stupid, I don't think he is prepared for the consequences and radar directed guns can deal with cruise missiles. They make a big hole, but beaming and sandbags around transformers is better than none for near misses and commercial fishing nets on poles can stop drones as can manually aimed gun defenses. I'm not saying Ukraine will come out unscathed, just that they will come out in a lot better shape than Russia will, if they prepared a drone response.

My bad, thought it was a cruise variant. Ukraine has experience in dealing with the attacks on their grid and how to deal with the aftermath and has the support of allies, Russia does not. They also built a lot of woodstoves that they still have and are most likely building more. It depends on how large and how effective the Ukrainian attacks on their transformers will be, if it happens at all, same for the Russians. Both sides will freeze in the dark if the Russians start it, but Ukraine is better prepared because they have experience, lots of generators in the country and more spare transformers than most and are expecting it, they have an air defense system organized for them too. More air defense is pouring into the country and could include additional patriot batteries.
Do you think Russia won't suffer if they attack the Ukrainian power grid? I think Ukraine could turn the lights off in European Russia and keep them off, I don't think Russia can do the same, as I said, they already tried their best last winter when they were stronger and failed.

I am sure Russia will have the war finally come home to them if Ukraine can reach the Moscow and St Petersburg region, do they have enough armaments to do it? I am sure Russia realizes their infrastructure will be attacked and have been stockpiling equipment and have been training their workers. Will the attacks on Russia give Putin his desired win in March? Does he really care otherwise?
