20.625 cups of solution for 55 gallons fertilizer? I heard too much can kill the plants so want to make sure. I smell funky solution in the room still but the reservoir doesnt stink but it smells like it has to be coming from there. That would be 1.25 gallons, something aint right.

Make a more concentrated stock solution.
Make it 30x more concentrated and substitute ml for ounces.
Make it 100x more concentrated and use even less per application.

The volume is irrelevant, it's the weight of the CalHypo present that matters.

About to make more solution, hope I got this right. 3g/1gallon water to make solution and take 30ml of that per gallon of fertilizer to get 3 ppm per gallon im fertilizer. 6.875 cups instead of 20 unless 7 cups is close enough. Sound good?

Or I can just do what I said just above this text, 1.25 gallons so I can stop chasing my tail over this. Would like to use more concentrated though if I could, seems like less work and longer shelf life.

What are you putting in the rez that makes it stink and require the use of pool shock? This whole thread hurts my brain.
Just equpment building up bactiria and cross contaminating and h2o2 not being enough, warmer temps. Larger reservoir, more air contact. It is getting smelly and cloudy faster than normal.

get an accurate scale and just measure it out by the dose. i thought that way is just as easy as making a stock solution IMO.

I do that because it takes a minute to disolve and wasnt sure if I could put it straight into reservoir if it could hurt the wave makers. Is that what you meant, measure out dry weight of pool shock and put it right into reservoir?

that's the way i do it. my target was 3 ppm so 0.3 grams per 10 gallons water. it dissolves fairly quickly: you could always add it to a little jug of warm water and shake then dump

Handling 40 gallons like it is nothing! Only stopping there since I wont need as much solution yet. 25 gallons lasted 3 days just about with 5 gallons left that I dumped.

Forgot to measure out 5 gallons and then a gallon at a time to see how much is needed to keep pumps submerged but I think it is 5-8 gallons just like before. Peobably a little less since it is not as shallow.
So you're putting more than a gallon of water through each pot per day.

There is no way in hell those plants, at that size, went through 75 litres of water in 3 days.

What on earth is going on here.

I had to re dial in the halos which have mold on top surface of pots.. Should look into those drip plate covers. Halos just dont do so good. Even store bought.

Lol dude. You are making your life so much harder than it needs to be...

Good luck tho.
I can fogure it out eventually, I literally hardly got to grow so I am bound to over size things and make some things complicated but I will eventually see it through. I already heard you out, use 25 gallon reservoirs and smaller pots, but I have to finish these two 3 gallons.

The slow drip at spout stopped! I found it was barely tightened. I had to really, really tighten the crap out of it. I just read more about how safety was in mind when designing these and they should be safe. Kinda weirded out suddenly but read that. It does better than anything else I came across considering that.

Just being collaspable is sketch but I also felt the overkill. Thinking about how vegging for 60 days in 3 gal vs 1 gal would be, if I can down size and make my setup more normal, just tough that the size goes from 25 gal straight to 60 but using 55 at most. Having the capacity is nice even if I had smaller pots.

Anyway I went ahead and did 1 gallon, 1 gram pool shock for 45 gallons fertilizer. Lets see how it holds up. No need to dial in halos so it should last. I cleaned out the drain tub, slimey but the fertilizer reservoir was ok to refill. I used a trash bin with dolly and pump to transport the water and it made it much easier.

That is I guess my target too but does that align with what the other user said mathmatically? I would need to add say, 1.35 grams to 45 gallons but I only did one gram.

To make life easier if that worked for you, this was the kind of answer I was hoping for that I can understand. I will probably just do this especially if you are sure it will be around 3 ppm and because it is just so much simpler for some reason.

If it got smelly again would you add another same dose of pool shock? Or just do a thorough disinfection of everything and try again?
