Trump calls for judge overseeing New York fraud trial to be disbarred: live updates
Former President Trump is in court in New York on Monday in a sweeping civil case that could jeopardize his control over some of his most famed properties.

A judge last week determined Trump had been liable for fraud for inflating the value of some of his properties in order to secure business loans and insurance policies. Trump himself showed up even though he was not required to.

Monday’s trial marks the start of a long legal road ahead for Trump, who also faces a combined 91 charges in four criminal cases and several other civil cases.

Donald Bender, former President Trump's longtime accountant formerly at Mazars USA, is the New York attorney general's first witness. Bender prepared Trump's personal tax returns for years and was granted immunity to testify on the government's behalf.

Trump calls for trial judge to be disbarred
In remarks just outside the courtroom while Monday's hearing was on a lunch break, former President Trump told news crews that he believes the judge overseeing his fraud case ought to be disbarred.

“The judge in this case is wrong,” Trump said after reading from what appeared to be articles that challenged findings that overinflating property values is against the law.

“Let's go to trial because this is a judge that should be disbarred. This is a judge that should be out of office. This is a judge that some people say should be charged criminally for what he's doing,” Trump said. “He's interfering with an election, and it's a disgrace.”

When asked why he opted to attend the trial's first day in person, which he was not required to do, Trump responded, “Because I want to watch this witch hunt myself.”

Trump glares at James
Upon leaving the courtroom for a lunch break, former President Trump looked daggers at New York Attorney General Letitia James in a glare that lasted several seconds.

It was unclear whether James saw Trump's scowl, but the attorney general remained seated in the courtroom for a few more minutes before leaving.

The court is now on lunch recess.

Judge Arthur Engoron rebutted attacks from Donald Trump's attorney Alina Habba against New York Attorney General Letitia James, after she attacked James for saying in her campaign for attorney general that she was going to “get Trump.” The judge responded by noting that the defense already tried to dismiss the case claiming that James brought it as a “witch hunt” against Trump. #CNN #News

Donald could ignore it until the hammer came down for $250 million and he heard the familiar word "receiver", he has heard it several times during his past bankruptcies. That got his attention and made him snap upright, going not just for his money, but the wallet that holds most of it, he decided to show up in court to glower at the judge who is gonna rip him a new asshole while smiling.

Donald can glare at James, but I'll bet she has criminal charges for NY tax fraud on her mind when she smiles back, just wait a spell Donald, you will meet her again when she has you by the balls.

Are the bookies betting on how much NY will take him for? What are the amounts and odds?

Maybe this answers the question of how much money he might be out.

Donald Trump was back in court today. This time, as the former president answers for his business dealings in New York, his empire could be at stake. The self-described property mogul has already been found liable for “persistent and repeated” fraud in this civil trial. David Cay Johnston is a Pulitzer Prize-winning economics reporter. He joins the show to discuss what this means for the Trump organization.

She's there for his ego and the camera. Hey, look at these great (false) tits and get distracted from what I say. "You remind me of my daughter."
I realized that once you said she was the lawyer. Is she any good? Does not matter as long as she looks good. Mind you, not my taste in women, she looks real fake (hey, she might be a wonderful person in private) .

i love it, Trumps lawyer screwed up.......she forgot the ck the box for a jury trial, not a trail by judge
He'd better call Saul. He already blamed the NY justice system for that publicly. I'm a little surprised he didn't repeat that in the courthouse despite the public knowledge.

He was playing his air accordion before the trial. He had the pointy finger out at lunch time. Wait until he finds out what his big statute of limitations win actually means for him other than he got away with at least some of it again. Trump probably refers to the statute of limitations as the "fuggid bout it" rule. Those crimes are scot-free because of the "fuggid bout it" rule.

I hope he returns to court again. I like watching him scowl. Touching his money is the worst thing you could do to him. That is his personal being, his persona. You can sense what's going through his mind right this instant. Revenge! A black woman (N-word) did this! Biden did this! Democrats did this to me! Unfair! Mar-A-Lago is worth more than $1.8 billion! I'm a billionaire!
