War

The further the Ukrainians penetrate the Russian defensive lines the fewer the mines and the more superior tactics and training come into play. They can go sideways along the Russian trench lines now in flanking attacks, forcing the Russians manning the defensive lines to retreat or be cut off. Going down a trench line with drones leading the way through the zig zags should be very effective for a fast advance along the flanks of the penetration. It is getting easier for the Ukrainians and harder for the Russians the further they penetrate and the wider the gap they can create expands the directions they can attack in. The objective is to cut Russian logistics from east to west at any point along several hundred kilometers along the coast.

The F-16 should not get close to the front line, the important thing is its radar and the missiles it can fire at the Russian aircraft. The F-16 is suppose to have a greater standoff distance than the Russians.
I could be wrong, but my hunch is that the F-16s will do a lot of air-to-ground, with emphasis on antiradiation missions; fire control radars and SAM sites come to mind.

I have the impression that Russia isn’t sending many airstrikes into the war zone. Perhaps the presence of a new fighter threat will make Russia’s air force look alive.

The MiG-31Ms that have been lobbing Kinzhal missiles have been operating at a considerable standoff. They’re also faster than any Western fighter. Unless the ‘16s can organize an ambush, the MiGs can turn tail and be out of Amraam range in minutes.

Yep, they will use up the rest of the soviet stuff to do the cruise missile and glide bomb attacks before using F16 which are air superiority fighters. Before they arrive though a lot more SAM systems will be destroyed or redeployed back home to protect Mother Russia from drone attacks on vital targets bottlenecking military production.

bet Zelenskyy is asking the West for a large number of HARMs to go with the jets

If Joe and the democrats win in 24 then Ukraine will end up in NATO or might as well be, it will prosper, and Russia will wither economically and militarily.

Why Ukraine joining NATO would crush Russian power

The drones are evolving and becoming more effective, harder to counter and will have greatly increased range with better batteries. People went from hobbyists to defense contractors and military innovators. The Drone/RC hobby tends to be very engineer heavy, and many were designing and selling things to the rapidly evolving hobby market before the war using cheap parts from China or contracting the things they design, to be made in China that they then market to the hobby world. There are plenty of drone/RC hobbyists in Asia too and the same dynamic exists there as well.

Ukrainian firm shows how its drones are being armed against Russia

Ukraine has seen a huge increase in the use of small, relatively cheap attack drones that have been deployed with devastating effect in the conflict with Russia.

Before the full-scale invasion there were only four firms making drones in Ukraine, but now it’s thought there are 200 - and 40 of them are manufacturing UAVs for the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence.

Many of them are being made by drone enthusiasts who turned their hobby into a defence business to help the war effort.

Kinzhal missiles are not the big concern now, it is glide bombs.

"Good news for Ukraine...coming in parallel with spectacular these visually spectacular attacks in Crimea with a barrage, we understand, of Storm Shadow missiles against a naval headquarters in Sebastopol."

British supplied missiles have killed the Russian commander of the Zaporizhzhia region as Ukrainian troops break through lines in the region, The Sun Political editor tells #timesradio.
