18,648 views Sep 6, 2023
Judge McAfee will preside over a hearing today (9/6/23) on severance motions following several Fulton County co-defants' severance requests. Tomorrow, McAfee will have to make a decision on whether or not to grant severance, ultimately dictating how this case will, or will not, be divided.

If you are interested in the legal details of Trump's demise, Harry is yer man! I figure he could easily be a pretty good federal judge.

“[J]ust say the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R. congressmen,”
If Jack were building a case against some of them based on the testimony of rats, would he also have standing to invoke the 14th, or is it the prerogative of state officials. He might try them, and they could get off on the criminal charges, but enough evidence could be presented in the venue to get them disqualified since a lower standard of evidence is required for that. After that state officials can pick up the ball or be sued if they don't...

I think that is in the air until a finding is in hand, probably from Scotus, regarding the 14th and that man.
If yes, I see no barrier to the 14th being applied at Federal and probably State levels.

Keep in mind that as a student of Constitutional law, I make a mean cheese dip.

We are all just fans and pundits, but the data points appear to be stacking up for an early decision before the primaries on the 14th. The betting pool is open pro or con, disqualified or not. Continuing chaos or game over for Trump, if the SCOTUS doesn't disqualify him over a suit brought by some state official who does, they would be in the unenviable position of defending Trump in the face of a mountain of evidence, future convictions, the plain language of the constitution and overcoming a very strong case by the plaintiff.

Logic leads me to conclude that the decision will happen before the primaries and they will disqualify Trump, perhaps with a unanimous vote of the SCOTUS. The end of Donald and salvation for the GOP establishment, but his shit stain will remain around their necks for a long time with a poisoned base of morons and bigots.

Pundit is a synonym for expert, so not really. I’d say a better term is laymen.

As for the rest of it, you’re once again exercising your love of prognosticating. And your predictions are quite often wrong. I am much less interested in predictions than in inventories of what we actually do know.

“Logic leads me to conclude”
Logic is a process that is predicated on the premises. I tend to be much more conservative in how I choose or accept a proposition as a valid premise than you. That’s how we often end up with rather different reads of the same raw data.

I have a hunch you’d enjoy Las Vegas much more than I. (While the money lasts.)

Hate gambling, but the facts do call for an early decision date before the primaries and the 14th applies to the primary process, I think we can agree on that much. As for if he is disqualified, the betting pool is open, and I've stated my logic for why he will be disqualified by the SCOTUS and placed my bet, but not for anything tangible.

As for Pundits, I post them all the time and opine on their opinions!

This is very serious business, but we can have a bit of fun with it too since it deals with Donald's demise.

Prosecutors signed cooperation agreement with Mar-a-Lago IT worker
A Mar-a-Lago IT worker struck a cooperation deal with prosecutors investigating former President Trump’s handling of classified records at his Florida home, according to a filing from his former attorney.

It was already known Yuscil Taveras had flipped in the case after prosecutors working with special counsel Jack Smith pushed the IT worker to speak with an outside attorney.

But the filing from his former attorney makes explicit that Taveras will not face prosecution on perjury charges after initially giving false information to investigators.
The filing from attorney Stanley Woodward comes as prosecutors are again asking the court to hold a so-called Garcia hearing to evaluate his representation of Trump’s co-defendant in the case Walt Nauta.

Taveras – whose testimony led to a superseding indictment accusing Trump, Nauta and Mar-a-Lago property manager of attempting to delete security footage at the property – is expected to testify in the case.

Woodward, however, has argued his testimony should be barred, complaining about Justice Department dealings with Taveras.
Woodward wrote in the filing that he played “no role” in the Taveras decision, and lashed out at the Justice Department for offering immunity only once the IT worker consulted with a court-appointed public defender.

“It is telling that the Non-Prosecution Agreement it ultimately offered Trump Employee 4 was not offered before the District Court had agreed to appoint “conflict counsel,” Woodward wrote, using the identifier DOJ has assigned Taveras.

Woodward, whose services have been paid for by Trump, is battling an effort by the Justice Department to hold a similar hearing with Nauta.
Prosecutors are likewise seeking a Garcia hearing with Carlos de Oliviera, the third co-defendant in the Mar-a-Lago case.

Once they feel the heat and get burned enough, they are ready to flip, and the heat has increased to red hot recently. Early trials are a disaster for Trump with the first batch found guilty before Christmas I figure. Merry Xmas Donald and a very unhappy new year in legal HELL! Mar A Largo should be quite something this Holiday season, with coconspirators found guilty and him disqualified by the SCOTUS before he gets to the start line... Then there is all the other shit he's facing!

During the trial and that begins for the first bunch in October, Gym can watch it on TV, like everybody else, even have one setup in the committee room and they can have a watching party together! Enter the court transcript into the congressional record too...
