How many air defense systems do they have? They must be getting stretched thin with attacks on Moscow, Crimea and airbases in Russia. This is why there is a long war, to make sure the vast quantities of shit like this are destroyed and used up. Disarming Russia the old-fashioned way is the answer and once disarmed, under sanctions and with a broken economy and morale, it will be a long time before they can threaten anybody or impose their will on weaker neighbors. This war might not end in Ukraine either, but will continue in Georgia and Belarus I figure, both to liberate them, reclaim territory and to drain away whatever remains of the Russian military and its irreplaceable equipment. A liberated Belarus will add to Ukrainian and European security and make Kaliningrad impossible for Russia to hold.
I don't like a long war or the sacrifice of the Ukrainians, but I'm not calling the shots, just trying to figure out why it's ending up like it is. If what I think is correct, then the plan is to break Russia on the rock of Ukraine and remove the threat for a decade or more. Get rid of their vast hoard of inherited Soviet arms and ammo while breaking their will for war, their military, government and economy. Once the military experts saw how shitty the Russian army was, its many weaknesses, and Ukraine's strength and morale, they came up with a strategic plan.
