I was wondering, since Trump's lawyer quoted Trump's confession on TV after his indictment, can Jack call him as a witness and put him under oath! Can Donald claim stupidity on his lawyer's part? Looks like a way under the bus for him and a delay for Donald, blame it on incompetent counsel! How many more confessions will we have from Trump and others before the trial even begins. The 28th is when we get a trial date and I figure the judge will try to stick with it, Jack's stripped-down case is built for speed and there is a strong case for a result before the election or even before the GOP primaries.

All the legal eagles and talking heads near shit when Trump's lawyer said this on TV! :lol:

Trump calls on Supreme Court to ‘intercede’ in legal fights
Former President Trump is calling on the Supreme Court to intercede in the legal battles he is facing after he pleaded not guilty federal to charges related to special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Trump, in a post on Truth Social early Friday, repeated accusations that President Biden is pushing for the cases against him for political purposes. Trump also said the multiple cases against him will require “massive amounts” of time and money and force him to use resources on court battles that could have been used for advertisements and rallies.

“I am leading in all Polls, including against Crooked Joe, but this is not a level playing field. It is Election Interference, & the Supreme Court must intercede. MAGA!” Trump said.

The former president appeared in a Washington, D.C., courtroom Thursday for his arraignment to enter his not guilty plea to the four charges he is facing in the Jan. 6 case.

He has been charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempting to obstruct an official proceeding and conspiracy against rights.

The indictment is the third filed against Trump in the past few months, with the former president already facing charges related to hush-money payments made to porn actress Stormy Daniels and his keeping of classified and sensitive documents at his Mar-a-Lago property in Florida after his presidency ended.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges and maintained that he is being prosecuted for political purposes because of position as the front-runner for the GOP nomination for president in 2024.

All three of Trump’s criminal cases remain in early stages. Although the disputes could eventually end up at the Supreme Court, such an appeal would not take place until further down the road.

In his hush money case, Trump has begun the appeal process over a ruling that denied Trump’s attempt to move the case to federal court. That dispute is now in the hands of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Biden has repeatedly emphasized the independence of the Justice Department (DOJ) to make its own decisions, while Smith and Attorney General Merrick Garland have defended the integrity of DOJ and FBI staff.

Trump has led by significant margins in the race for the GOP nomination, while hypothetical general election polls have shown Trump and Biden in a tight race.

U.S. House Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) said Thursday that she she doesn’t think the House select committee on the Jan. 6 attack was aware of notes taken by former Vice President Mike Pence during meetings with former President Trump when he was making false claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Special counsel Jack Smith’s Tuesday indictment of the Trump in a case surrounding efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election revealed the existence of the notes. The former president now faces four counts due to his actions attempting to prevent Joe Biden from taking the presidency, including a pressure campaign to have Pence stop the certification of the election.

“Well, I did not know about those notes and I don’t think any of the investigators or other members knew,” Lofgren said on “Alex Wagner Tonight” on MSNBC. “We talked to his counsel, we talked to his chief of staff. We didn’t get that information.”

Pence, who is running against his former running mate in the 2024 GOP primaries, made a strong condemnation of Trump in the wake of the indictment Tuesday. Pence released a statement saying Trump put himself “over the Constitution” and therefore he should not be allowed to hold the office of the presidency.

“Today’s indictment serves as an important reminder: anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States,” Pence said.

I'm betting he gets jailed in DC before trial or during it, maybe we should make a thread and run a poll. Being in a DC jail cell killing cockroaches might speed up his trial a bit too with fewer delays. Donald will have a black female judge owning his ass and controlling him, that can't go over very well with a racist and misogamist like Trump. She also has a reputation for no shit and being a hard ass on J6 defendants and she has seen a few and continues to oversee the cases of the underlings. I think she wants the case resolved before the GOP primaries, much less the election, but I figure a trial ending in the spring, before the GOP convention. Donald won't be happy about her rulings and will find out his initial trial date on the 28th and 75 to 90 days is the norm for that, but this trial might be pushed back a bit. Jack only charged Donald and his case is built for speed, a torpedo aimed right at the target, with a real judge in a real court who will apply equality under the law.

Barr doesn't think Trump will end up in prison, I say he will, Garland will have ultimate control of Donald's ass once he's government property and the dept of prisons would need his permission for any special treatment. It will be easier and cheaper for the SS to guard Donald in a cell somewhere and the feds have a lot of cells and facilities to choose from, someone is working on it now. I'm sure Garland already made up his mind about what happens to Donald when he gets in the prison system. I'm also sure that once Donald is imprisoned that we won't hear much from him except what his visitors say. I think Trump rates a maximum-security facility because of the large domestic terrorist threat he represents.

Trump waives right to appear at second classified documents arraignment
Former President Trump waived his right to appear for his upcoming arraignment on a superseding indictment in the classified documents case.
Trump has already appeared in court to plead not guilty to the 37 counts contained in the original indictment, but his arraignment on three newly filed charges is scheduled for Aug. 10.

In a court filing on Friday, Trump and his attorney waived the former president’s right to appear. Prosecutors previously indicated they would not oppose his absence, but it still must be approved by the judge.

The filing also indicates the former president will plead not guilty to the additional charges.
The indictment is one of three criminal cases facing the former president. He also faces federal charges stemming from his efforts to remain in power after the 2020 election and charges in New York state court related to a hush money payment. Trump has described all of the prosecutions as witch hunts.

In the classified records case, special counsel Jack Smith’s office indicted Trump on June 8 over allegations he willfully retained national defense information and obstructed the government’s attempt to retrieve the documents. He was also charged alongside Walt Nauta, his body man and aide.
Last Thursday, prosecutors unveiled three additional charges against Trump and added another co-defendant, Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliveira. Trump, Nauta and De Oliveira are accused of attempting to delete security footage after the government subpoenaed it in their investigation.

Trump appeared in person for all three of his previous arraignments, but Thursday’s proceeding will be his first arraignment on a superseding indictment. The former president has so far not appeared at subsequent hearings in any of his criminal cases.

I figure Jack might end up going after the likes of Newt, if the evidence leads him there. After Donald there will be plenty of more indictments, this shit will generate hundreds of squeal deals among republicans. Mark Meadows is cooperating, and he will lead others to Jack who want to avoid prison or reduce a lengthy sentence. Congressional types who were in on the plot and meetings at the WH because once they get Trump and his cronies for conspiracy, they can keep adding names with superseding indictments, or charge Trump with new conspiracies that they were a party to. This will go on for years and if the democrats win in 24 there will be another J6 committee after the legal dust settles a bit, with a wider remit and more public hearings.
