what is all this software talk? i just have an amp and pedal. what am i missing? is this stictly for recording? because i have a whole album in my head. lol

Its worth cheking out, audacity makes it pretty simple, just plug the out of ure amp into ure soundcard and record, then press play, granted the quality might not be fantastic, personally i dont trust a computer with my recording, I have a tascam digital recorder which does all the recording, mixing and mastering.

Do a search on music123.com there is a ton of stuff. This is not neccassrily computer software but it does have flash memory so you can still edit with CPU software. My buddy got a Boss that cost like 700.00 it's really cool but I just linked you to some of the cheaper ones. They have effects built in and a drum machine and they are easy to move around. I can do some more research if you want me too, I'm actually looking to get one myself. I have the analog old time studio and the computer studio but the convience of these little buggers is cool. Remember....BOYS LIKE TOYS

AMS has done me right. they were the only ones to offer the ibanez with the upgraded bridge and pick-ups. the same guitar was on EVERY other site for the same or more money with the lesser grade options. i had problems with my first 2 guitars. there were factory flaws. AMS set me the new guitar before i had to return the old one. it took 2 days for the complete exchange. they are excellent to work with and will do much more business with them in the future.

I wouldnt say so no, i can personally vouch for this one: http://www.music123.com/Tascam-DP-01-Digital-Multitrack-Recorder-i150998.music, i have the DP-01FX which is very similar but a bit more pricy, this one is as easy to use and effective tho, and the same price as the zoom one you were looking at.

This is Mogies hubby.
Music Man Guitar???!!!! WTF??!!! I built that guitar out of a solid piece of maple that had some heavy flame and burle in it. It was my first and maybe even my best.

Now for recording. I got started with a simple little program called "Power Tracks." I didn't have a mixer or speakers or anything at the time. I just plugged my guitar into the back of the computer (into the sound card) using a 1/4" to 1/8" jack adapter. A real pain in the ass! But I got some decent recordings. Power Tracks is a real cheap program and you can have a lot of fun with it. It can teach you all about PC recording because it has it all, FX, multi-tracks, midi capabilities, prints sheet music and tabs, has a drum sequencer (albeit a bit limited). For the hobbiest that just wants to have fun it is a great way to start making music. It cost $50 and you can download a trial version free before you buy. It is hardly a professional grade piece of software but it does pretty good.

I use Adobe Audition 2.0..... Friggin awesome program! Very professional piece of software, it does everything including scratch you balls. It has every FX you can think of including a 4-band compressor which allows you to apply different compression to 4 separate bands of frequency on any track. If you are into video editing it works seemlessly with Adobe Premier which is their video editing software.

Of course, the price is reasonable at $350 but the portability is limited. The little boss unit that Gygax1974 suggested is kinda nice because you can take it anywhere. My recording options are pretty much limited to my studio. But that is just ok with me. The quality in these portable digital recorder is getting better, in fact, down right impressive for their size, but nothing like a dedicated system equiped with professional software. If playing around with music is all you are interested in the boss unit will do you nicely... but if you get hooked and want a bigger better sound you will probably have to up to something like the Korg 16 channel digital recorder at a cost of about $1500. Or build a PC studio like I have one piece at a time. Total cost of my studio is about $7000 including $1500 for an electronic drum set and $2500 for a killer keyboard.

i use audition also, in fact i've been using it since it was called cool edit. I meant no harm the guiter looked like a music man, I couldn't see the headstock. The fact that you made that is awesome. You do good work...both of you..lol

very nice every one. mogie your husbands guitar is wicked sweet, Sine I got to play a 1969 gibson les paul the other day at our studio, very freakin nice.

We pluged that thing into a marshall stack with greenbacks, and it sounded good str8 up. We did a line 6 guitar next with a huge pod pedal running thru the same amp and we couldn't find a comparable tone ne where on it. Talkin str8 up rock tones. Lotsa fx and proccesord on those tho.

yeah I play through an 81 fender super reverb... silverface, I reworked all the electronics on it, and replaced the tubes with some svetlanas. the clean channel is amazing.
