When to replace QB?

I'm also far from an expert but I'd expect a decent light to last several years and lots of grows. If you have only the qb, it's not a bad idea to have a backup light in case your light fails mid-grow. Another reason is if you want to expand coverage or if the qb is not really big enough for your growing style. Other than that, I'd say don't fix it if it isn't broken

Yeah thinking about investing in a par meter do you have one?
I use the Photone iPhone app and it's worked well enough for me to dial in my HLG 250 Veg Pro and HLG Scorpion Diablo X. Mine are very new so I can't answer for life but @Laughing Grass runs a few HLG lights let's ask her.

Shane at micro did an experiment with a couple of lights that were tested brand new then retested a year later.
There was a QB in the measurement test. The QB has a sort of lens cover on it which might reflect heat back to the board thus making the diodes warmer than a bare board, in turn deteriorating them quicker.?
I've a couple of boards, Chinese Fotops and R2Ts and a few QBs that are around 5 years old that are still producing the goods. 5 years at 12 on for 365 days a year x 5 is ~ 22,000 hours. About another 5 years left on them! Lol
I can't really tell much difference.

I imagine you'd see degradation of performance in the meter's measurements.

I remember a few yrs ago someone talking about less light produced and my answer to that was just lower the light closer to the canopy.....
Nice and thanks for chiming in. I'm so new to LED it's more theory than experience. I still wouldn't mind your 350R for my veg tent.
So that 50,000 lamp hour number is actually called the L70. It is (basically) a measured time frame where the diodes will reach 70% intensity set at 100%. So after 50,000 hours the lamp will output 70% of the lumens it did out of the box.
