Examples of GOP Leadership

Trump could equal their FDR. LMAO, not. I wonder, like Tucker said, "i hate him passionately"
if they all feel the same about Trump, but who the hell LOVED Stalin, or Mao? They seem to
seek the most evil, criminal, murderous sons of a bitch they can vote for.
The democrats can't find anybody good enough and the republicans can't find anybody evil and stupid enough, except for Trump. It is a classic case of you do your worst and we will do our best.

the only acceptable alternative is to stand behind Biden and strap in tight, and tirelessly say (with confirming facts) that this was the Republican choice as state subsidies, which hit red states harder, stop.

One of the effects will be to tank the stock market. That will be the GOP biting the hand that feeds it so hard that the nation’s monied interests can’t cheaply continue pretending.

We may need to do this the hard way.
I'm willing to go along for the ride, but you're talking about a lot of suffering, mostly from people who have no stake in the stock market...they hardly have enough money to "invest" in the grocery market.
I hope your sense of nobility is worth all those kids going hungry.

wow, sense of nobility!?
This is war, Roger.
It’s war with the guys who wrote That Man a $6.5T carte blanche and are now yodeling about fiscal responsibility.

If I saw a way to selectively protect the little guy, I’d say so. But not negotiating with de facto terrorists is the only way forward.

If I were Biden I'd make a speech and say that if the debt Celing isn't raised. then the economy and the stock market will crash, taking the world economy down. The Republicunts are irresponsible and won't raise the revenue to pay for what they already spent. So in '24 vote blue to ensure the economy will survive, if the Republicunts do kill the economy next month. I'd list every MAGAt in Congress with their mug shots to identify them for the people.

Show me where the fight for freedom does not involve sacrifice? This is not a budget negotiation or a budget, this is simply a bill to pay the bills as required by the US constitution which makes a debt ceiling unconstitutional anyway, it was just a fucking republican gimmick. Joe should declare it unconstitutional and ignore it moving forward, let the SCOTUS deal with it, it is definitely federalist territory and federalist legal philosophy says a debt ceiling is unconstitutional as does the constitution. The last time I checked it usually takes dead bodies to defend and protect the US constitution and there are graveyards full of them. The US constitution's internal enemies have filled the most graves in American history, not its external ones.

yeah, it's a war, and people get fucked up in war...
This time, the war will be fought on American soil to begin with, and if it progresses far enough, will spread to EVERY country on earth.
So it's not just the kids in America that will go hungry, It's kids all over the planet, including ones that are already hungry, and will be getting hungrier.
Biden could mint the coin and avoid that, but that isn't Chivalrous...It offends the sense of honor of some people.
So, explain to me why it would be bad for Biden to mint the coin?...perhaps I'm missing something, or perhaps this is just a case of us valuing different aspects of the same situation differently.

he has made that speech, a couple of times.
No one seems to hear it after they hear it....

no; don’t be stubborn.
Minting the coin is a deal with the devil. Don’t cast it otherwise.

See link in previous post; it’s sleight of hand that will expensively come due. It’s quantitative easement in a different guise, and ultimately more costly than a default because it erodes the good standing of the dollar.

The terrorists are using a human shield made of millions of innocent bystanders. The coin would acknowledge their power.

It is a game of chicken and the weak links in Kevin's house will crack, it's just a question of when they crack, they can depend on foxnews spinning the truth and blaming the democrats, but will it be enough? How badly will it hurt Rupert and the donor class financially and will it lead to the election of a radical leftwing congress and Joe as FDR 2. The mansions of long island were decaying and vacant for decades, from the new deal until Reagan, then they were torn down or restored to their past glory as conspicuous consumption became not just fashionable for the rich again, it became affordable too. Mitch does not like this bullshit at all and has indicated there will be no problems passing it in the senate and some in Kevin's house are worried too as are the donors and the upper middleclass people who depend on 401k pension plans and stock incomes.

It defaults the good standing of the dollar more than a default that has a better than average chance of tanking the entire world economy?
They are terrorists, and you seem to be saying the easiest, most effective way to side step them is worse than letting them tank the economy, because...you want them to get the blame for tanking the world economy....¿
I understand that printing money to cover existing bills can lead to serious currency devaluation, but are you saying this one time would do more damage than allowing the republicans to at the very least put us into a real recession, and fairly likely a depression? along with the damage to the world economy at large?
How is this different than expanding the supreme court, which you said you are in favor of? The republicans can retaliate by expanding it again, and then the dems again, until it gets so large, everyone in the country has to sit on the fucking thing one week a year...

Expanding the Supreme Court is not a subterfuge.

Expanding the Supreme Court is not a subterfuge.
neither is printing a one time coin to thwart the will of political terrorists.
How can it be a subterfuge if we all know exactly what it is? Any who aren't aware of exactly what it represents doesn't have a valid viewpoint or enough experience to have a meaningful comment.
The ONLY danger i see in doing it is the temptation to do it again, because that WOULD lead to severe financial instablility.

but do we all know exactly what it means? I doubt that.
It’s a dishonest thing. Invoking the 14th is preferable, but imo the Repugs need to have their damned bluff called straight up.

If they want to carry the next great depression on their backs into 24, it won't go well for them.
But then they can always blame the dems for it, in that classic
hostage case: "The dems made me have to kill the hostage. It's their fault." How come nobody blames the kidnappers?

They certainly can't be given what they demand, now or ever...But to just let the country go into bare default when there is an alternative, even a much less than perfect one?
You say it will down grade the value of the dollar, but i don't see it doing much, the world is tied to our economy, and they all know it. What are their alternatives? china? India? people haven't been eager to flock to them yet, and i doubt they will be if we print enough money to bypass this one piece of shit fascist, terrorist house of representatives.

I see it as a capitulation and a way to make House Republicans seem more legitimate than they are.

As I said before, we may have to do this the hard way. All else is appeasement in my semi-uninformed opinion.
