yeppers, lights are too close for baby weed plants... too much heat too. Bring the lights closer only when they stretch in a week or so... good luck.

The biggest problem with seeds and soil is people watering after inserting seed. You want your pot to be mixed and filled then soak under faucet untill it drains and you have all soil equally watered. Let it sit a few hours then place seedling after its sprouted via paper towell) about quarter inch deep. You should NOT need to water agin until it sprouts. Most people will put seedling into dry soil then water thus causing seed to go to deep into soil.

In any proper growing situation seed should show itself above soil withing 36 hours. If not you need to evaluate situation. I have dug up seedling and replanted shallower but again this is only necessary if you dont follow my instructions of prewatering / soaking soil. You wont have any issues if you soak before planting. It soaking after planting that causes issues.

Lighting- seedling are sensative as we all know. Its imperative that they are not given direct lighting from a HID, set them in corner where they get light just not direct light. If using CFL place about twelve inches below and decrease distance daily.

If you follow the watering and lighting instructions your seeds will be viable and prosper.....just my two cents

Btw, 1 1/2 - 2 inches away is to close, I keep mine 4 inches away from mine... specially with 100 watt CFL's

My 80 watt CFL's burnt the hell out of mine and did the same thing they are doing to yours. I had much better esults keeping them at 4 inches away. The 2 inch rule really only applies to 20 watt - 40 watt CFL's.

Trust me, I found this out the hard way, they will receive plenty of light at 4 inches away.
ight dude i raised my lights there bout 4 1/2 inches now i watered them the soil looks fine the top is only dry cuz of the fans underneath its fine but i only have on sprout the first two pictures that i posted heres what it looks like now how come i dont have any new leaves like i usally see tiny little leaves in the middle of it when it sporuts liek right away

You only need to stick your finger about an inch in.You could be dislodging them, because the soil is loose and dry.Why not try a hmidity dome for the first week or two, until they get established?
no dude i stick my finger in the dirt all way to the bottom and if the dirt feels dry i spray the top and the water seeps down i dont spray till it leaks thats od but i give it about 6 sprays its looks ok but i still dont understand y are they dieing out on me like that?

If I were you. Id ditch all the ones you planted and germinate a whole new grow.

FUCK what that guy was saying about pre soaking. and FUCK the paper towel method of germinating.

Best way of germinating is simply soaking the seed in water for 24 hours, then plant the seed. simple as that. I had 8 out of 10 seeds sprout this way. Feel free to water your soil when ever it feels dry. when ever you water, you want a tiny tiny bit to leak threw the bottom, not a ton. Just because it looks dry on the top of the soil doesnt mean its not wet underneath. fans dry out soil very fast.

Trust me on this, No Im not a big time grower, but I have grown acouple times, and I read about growing everyday.

And you would restart the grow why?

Let me respectfully disagree here....I wouldn't advise on ditching and restarting...obviously, that can get expensive if you're buying the beans...and I just hate to see things get wasted.A grow can start out badly, but with a few corrections, can end up beautifully.

You probably don't need to blast them with CFLs at this early stage, and it might even slow root production if the roots are getting exposed to light. I'd keep them in a pretty dark place until they sprout--then blast them with CFLs! :blsmoke:

If they WERE store bought, I would not have advised such a thing, but the kid said in his first post that he had plenty more seeds (which left me assuming it was only bagseed). And it would only take him about 4-5 days to get back to the point he is at now.
