remember to plant the seeds about 1/2 an inch below the soil, idk what could have gone wrong... you did water them when they were in the soil sprouting right?

how close do you have the lights? if you are going to use reg soil on top you might as well use potting soi instead. but it looks like you top soil is drying out. if i was you i would put potting soil on top and just make sure to pour alittle bit of water every day but dont over water.

the last pic looks like the roots on top of the soil, try using a smaller starting pot, like a styro coffe cup is what i use,so you can controll there enviorment a little more.

pre mix the soil with water till its moist, put the seed into the dirt about a half of an inch, put into your box, when the soil looks dry just use a sprey bottle and mist the soil so the top stays moist not sopping wet, once in the morning and once at night.

works for me

That second set of photos looks as though the soil's dried out to me. I do my seedlings differently from a lot of other people, I keep them in a tray in which I always keep about 1/2" of water (or food, when they're old enough). Click my signature, it'll take you to my gallery, go to the first page to see what I mean. There are holes poked in the bottoms of the cups.

we are telling you, you need more water then what you are giving them, if you dont want to listen to us then why bother posting in the first place bud? your soil is to dry... period. I normally use very small pots. about 2 inches tall and 2 inches across, and water till it comes out the bottom.

trust me and the rest of us, your soil is dry as fuck. if you dont want to listen to us then dont. but you will continue killing your seedlings if you dont.

Righto! I have just transplanted my plants they were in 1/2 quart pots... I would water them pretty much every day til the water was about 1/16th-1/8th inch in my water tray... mind you I have a 400watt hps that is 8" away from my pots.....

When you spray the soil only the very top layer gets wet and that water will evaporate quickly due to the heat from the lights. You need to pour water into the soil so what is underneath gets wet all the way to the bottom. Remember you want your roots to grow downward, if only the top layer of soil is wet the roots are going to hang around there looking for water, then when the soil dries out the tender new baby roots are going to dry out right along with it.

Btw, 1 1/2 - 2 inches away is to close, I keep mine 4 inches away from mine... specially with 100 watt CFL's

My 80 watt CFL's burnt the hell out of mine and did the same thing they are doing to yours. I had much better esults keeping them at 4 inches away. The 2 inch rule really only applies to 20 watt - 40 watt CFL's.

Trust me, I found this out the hard way, they will receive plenty of light at 4 inches away.
