I stopped by my mechanic after work today here in Chicago, had to get the computer reset and purge valve changed out for emission testing.. dude usually buys an ounce or two when I see him.. not today, his son in law been driving up to Michigan to buy 40$ ounces ..I was expecting to see some shake or shitty flower.. the shit was pretty damn nice to be honest, he got 8 zips for 320$ . How can anybody compete with that.

MI, has pretty much done the same to ohi its everywhere, a few dont like the short pgr high, easy times are over just have to adapt adjust. Soon it will be the whole country.

Where I'm from, top shelf herb has always been 50 an eighth. It's been "the standard" since like the early 90s and is still the "benchmark" at what's considered fair market value.

Dispo's here have some. OUTRAGEOUSLY priced eighths touching 90 dollhairs after taxes but that stuff is always of utmost highest quality.

I hate to see hardworking growers get pushed out but on the flipside, I definitely support top quality meds for patients at cheap prices; Life is hard enough, it sucks when the shit you love becomes unaffordable or unattainable, even worse if it's meds you need.

Did you try it? I've been buying dispo for 6 years. It always looks and
smells pretty good, but smokes for shit, and usually a very blah high.
Oh, and it's around $35/eighth here.

It's definitely a consumers market today in Michigan, while the production side has become wildly cut-throat. It's getting hard to even justify the costs and labor of a personal medical grow today, other than for personal preferences in strains and/or end product that is not met by this market. Of course plant therapy as always is priceless

The economics at hand seem both elementary and foreseeable though. The overproduction instigated by our med and rec facility licensing schemes far surpassed demand crashing the retail market.

When I see sales stats like these posted by the regulators I cannot help but wonder the weight sold in comparison. For example how many pounds were sold on 4/20/2020 for 3.7 million vs 4/20/2023 for 20.9 million? $60 lab tested zips are a new thing that is hard to wrap your head around. If the consumer is paying $60 retail at a brick and mortar, what is that dispensary paying the producer?

Historically it would be hard to separate the rise of capitalism (economics) and democracy (politics) to it's prominence around the globe today. Lenin spoke often about "democracy", yet under that democracy 10s of millions of farmers and their families died of starvation. The corruption/harm of regulatory capture ≠ capitalism my friend, there are worse systems.

But if it was Marxist-Communism, then the word's misused. Because they wanted the centralized
state to dictate the distribution and that ain't democratic. And i totally get this concept of regulatory
capture (tho never heard it before), as being when a regulatory agency controls an industry for illicit
purposes (correct?).

I also agree that capitalism and democracy seemed to merge together in history. Like the China example, we're
seeing that communism and capitalism are also working together. Hell, maybe there's your form of
regulatory capture, right there.

Not exactly. It's more about the means/corruption of the influence peddling of special interests upon our political and economic systems that somehow cons the people (democracy) into believing the proposed/produced special interest regulation is somehow in their own best interests. The Drug War in general and it's current state of reform, or the subject of this thread, are regulatory capture schemes that contain some pretty easy to follow special interest players IMHO

I have wanted to try the Rare Dankness strain Jenny Kush (Amnesia Haze x Rare Dankness #2) for some time and have only seen the BIG Canna company Lume run and carry it here. I begrudgingly stopped by their Walled Lake store last weekend and they only had 1/8s and ounces. The zips were $160 with a general 20% discount, but I grabbed just an 1/8 to sample the strain for about $30 out the door I believe. I hate to say it, but I was rather impressed. The nugs were a bit small, but so was the bag. It could just be the quality of the strain as well. I'd hope the terps would be greater if I grew her myself (small batch). Anyone see Jenny Kush around in clone form?
