The thing about EVs and high-power rates is a significant portion of the population will be able make their own power or a significant amount of it for home and transport. Cheaper better batteries will mean home power banks and cheap solar panels can offset costs significantly in many locations. So high power rates mean higher transportation costs and more incentive to make and store your own power as battery costs come down with scale production and a variety of chemistries. As more people do this, the costs of electricity should drop for everybody.

Can the world afford another Trump? Or have time for America to wake up and smell the fucking coffee?

We have a horrible record at doing a fucking thing until it's too late, globally.
America isn't helping, and a lot of other countries aren't, either.
The survivors probably aren't going to have time to point fingers, they'll be too busy trying to survive the consequences of everyone's decisions.

Climate Change should eliminate a few problem states, who will be the senators from Florida, fish? A big part of the south is gone too. China should be terrified, they will lose the land hundreds of millions live on.
