Bud rot

While I don’t advise smoking any rot I don’t hesitate to cut it out way around the affected area and use the clean bud. Botyritis affects fruits and not just cannabis. It is possibly harmful to someone sensitive to it specifically so be cautious smoking. Use it for edibles or concentrates but tossing the entire shitaree for a spot or two is silly.

Some of the buds didn’t seem swollen. That’s why I took it long. This is lower growth and the buds don’t look swollen at all. do sativa have much smaller bud size than indica? Second picture is jack herer and bud size seems small

Bummer, I had one nanner that I missed and the whole crop was seeded, seeds were poking out everywhere.

Ouch!
My first crop went way too long, and I ended up with 148 seeds from 3oz of crappy buds. The clones I took ended up the same.
It was a bag seed, and after what I've learned.. it was a good chance that was going to happen from the get go, so I didn't beat myself up over it.
That however does look smokeable. Did any good come from it?

Botrytis (bud rot) survives on dead plant tissue. An overly burnt plant (be it from light, or over fertilization, etc.) is a recipe for bud rot, but not a guarantee it will form.

Crack open your biggest nugs/tops and check close to the stem. Look for a patches or webs of white/gray fuzzy fungus.

If you do find it, don't smoke it. It's bad stuff. You can cut away affected areas though, so it doesn't have to be a total loss. IME it's the biggest buds that are most susceptible inside where it's pretty moist, especially if you have excessive burnt/brown/dead plant material.

That jack will get fatter. Let it finish til the pistils resemble the pic on the left & you should see a difference.

Did you smoke any of it? I wonder how much different the smoke is with seeds. I haven't had seeded
weed in many decades. I hear it's not that bad, and that the smoke's pretty smooth with a few seeds. I realize
energy put into making the seeds reduces potency, which might be okay if the smoke is smoother. I'm just a
dispo cannabis user in the past 6 or so years. I wish some RIU members lived nearby, I'll tell you that, RATT NOW!

I think the lower potency in seeded weed argument is bro science. I smoked lots of it and it was very strong. My hermi issue was due to stress so I did a clone run after the seeded batch and I cannot tell the difference either in taste or potency. I'm running the seeds now just to see how they do.

It smoked great except the seeds lol.

This was separated from a few ounces, it's obscene what one nanner can do, I have thousands if Im was willing to put in the effort to seperate them all.

Agreed. All there was back in the'60s '70s and even early '80s was brick, seeded, and/or mexican dirt weed. It seemed to work.
So i'm thinking w/all these new sensemilla, skunk, afghani phenos that they should be even better, w/ or w/o seeds. You didn't answer, btw
if the harshness, flavor, etc. of the smoke was better w/or w/o seeds. I have this theory that it'd be smoother w/seeds. I don't grow, so I can't
test my theory.

Another thought: If people pay 1000 dollars for ten seeds, it would seem that if you have hundreds of seeds, wouldn't that translate into tens of thousands of dollars???

Yield would probably be lower, but I don't see why potency/cannabinoid content would change. Unless there was some stress which caused the plant to self-fertilize and also affected the potency/ability to grow trichomes.

I feel like I heard or read somewhere that seeded bud has a few extra types of cannabinoids that unseeded does not have. Dunno if there is any truth to that, and don't feel like wading through google search results to find out, but anyway..........

I planted a few last year & tossed them outside in the sun. Directly in soil & right in the greenhouse. Do not pass go, do not collect $200 lol
They stretched to hell, and got tossed. I didn't even want to waste water on them. They looked happy for a sec.. planned on yanking all but one.. but I just smoothed them into the soil & called it a day.

I sort of answered it. They were both dried and cured the same way so the flavour was the same (seeded vs non seeded), no harshness.

$1,000 for ten seeds? I think I paid $50 CAD for 5 seeds. These are dutch passion critical orange punch. Not a cross or anything special. They're feminized and I'm growing out four right now to test. If everything goes fine I'll give them away. I've been playing with this strain for close to a year, i'm ready for something new.

I smoke seeded weed all the time. It's more than potent enough, tastes fine, and is not harsh. But you'll definitely taste it if you miss a seed.
