Run off EC a lot higher than input

vpdchartdotcom is very helpful. You can figure out what your setup needs like 5x faster especially being new at it. It can effect uptake and leaf signs.

I do not see anyone mention yet particularly that if you feed to higher runoff, your EC should read better going out, but I do not check it.

If I did, I bet it is normal (.3ec higher) or higher as it is flushing things out and will flush more things out as it goes through flower.

Ec will spike during dryback, I just started doing 3 times a day for a 3gallon. PH issues in rootzone can happen with minimal feed, happened to me.

I discard any practice of watering according to anything more than seeing great runoff. What water are you using? Are you adding anything else to feed?

Clones should be ok with regular feed by now.
I have that site bookmarked. Best one I've come across. Of course I'm one of the knuckleheads that failed to remember it. I have just been getting pretty lucky winging it.
My slacking is probably the reason I'm noticing slow growth in veg. I've since added more heat, and it's brought be back to a nice comfortable level.F90F2F01-EA42-418B-9558-9A56935F4C3F.jpeg2089F048-056E-4F18-9F79-C864D513F61A.jpeg
Leaf surface temp is 76F
Temp 77F
RH 59%
VPD 1.21 kpa

The only time which first starting out with coco, that I had weird ec behavior; was when I fed according to pot volume and runoff return volume.

My ec out was .4-.6 between two 70 day old plants in veg.

If I fed properly, saturating and keeping appropriately wet (which was also part of the minimal feed practice mjcoco said to do which is the opposite), it would be normal.

High ec runoff would not bother me, specially in flower as drybacks and salt/tap water build up increases. Leaf signs, I would read.

I feed thoroughly to avoid any build of of any concern.
When it comes to runoff, I let the plant tell me if it's right or not. Much more accurate than anything any meter could tell me, but I let it runoff to~25% of what I put in. My plants are happy, and I never meter runoff.

Thanks for all your advice guys I just like to stay on the right track been a while since my first one now just wanna get my head fresh to it they’re looking really healthy at the min probably up my feed from 1.2 to 1.4ec end of next week and see how they take to it

Mjcoco says to let 20% dry back then only add until you get 20%runoff back per volume container which is more soil tactic by just replacing what you put in which is a nono in coco.

He also says all coco must be supplemented with calmg the entire time but could be outdated info, should correct that anyway.

Everything mjcoco says about feeding is just vague or wrong, let alone his feed chart IMO and others that said so to me here on RIU.

That entire section should just say water to great runoff.

Everything else yes, it is handy and correct to a appropriate degree.

I've used calmag once a few years ago. Ended up being I didn't need it, so I gave the bottle to a friend, and I've never used it again. I do add mgso4 to my nutrient solution though. About 1.5 grams per gallon.

Total or with tap water? The more expirienced users opt for 1.0-1.5 ec total.

I am working on making my own feed to reflect that as they have done more runs than I could ever catch up to lol.

Doing this so it stays as green as possible through out most of flower so I don’t get picked on when showing off.

I removed the calmg because it gave me lock out, leaves acting like ripening phase in flower, going complete yellow or complete rust FROM the calmg.

From seedling and few weeks in it was like that and riu users helped solve by convincing me tap and/or nutes have enough of it in there.

His feed chart pretty much calls for complete domination of calmag over nute ratio. I don’t get it, maybe to convince to buy the 30 other bottles he uses.

That would be my guess. I use 2 bottles..... flora micro, and flora bloom. Plus the 1.5 grams of mgso4, start to finish. It's all that's needed, imo. I've used jacks 321 before, and I'll use it again, but I have a surplus of the micro and bloom im trying to use up first.

Hi pal with tap water I think if I remember correctly I ran my EC up to around 2.0 maybe higher using the same water last time

So what’s that consisting of? I’m terms of the different nutrients
5-15-14 npk I just diluted it in a math ratio I am too stoned to figure out, just so it is below 1.5Ec to avoid the rough colors seen here which I suspect is too much light or essentially too much ec.

Maybe from being compact in a small space too but mostly ec related and dli and ph drifts. Cheap after market turned out to be a potent light!

tip burn, dark leaves. Should look a bit better then that for light feed and big pot 3gal coco. I just corrected ph drifts from using tap, if you use tap be weary of that, could be what is showing burnt ridges and etc.

These are the little things that pop up in flower but not veg. I plan on having much better looking leaves next run.

Looks like some heat stress as well.

Crammed space, I chose that battle. I am winning so far lol. Crammed scrog, I have 50+ spears in main canopy. 2x2. 90F.
You're most likely evaporating terpenes with that kinda heat, and losing out on some bulk. Next time try to keep them shorter. Run a second, and (if needed), a third scrog.

I am getting close to dimming lights and ripe and the terpenes are obnoxious. It made me love moderate strains or lower thc strains so long as they pack some frost.

This thing cannot be touched without washing hands due to smell and stick. 60% of those will be lost anyway.

I consider this journey as part of the terpene consumption lol edit I ended up with a fruitful plant than expected, otherwise next time wider canopy for sure.

@Hollatchaboy they are 10-13 inches long and only has a 3” shaded bush canopy which is still growing fine due to being part of main line stems.

Aside from the few mistakes made, I was excpecting some critisism but let me get the dry weight first before I talk any crap/post more pics lol

I'm not criticizing, just trying to inform, in case you didn't already know.

Mine has room for criticism, so I'm not throwing stones. Lol

Nice setup! Yea I just talk full of dialog incase I need something corrected with what I preach.

Preaching the practice works, I understand things that much better, finding my own ways to put things.

Also helps get a feel for where one is at with skills and vice versa.
