let them fall on each other and rip out throats...it's more than they deserve.
Their discontent will grow this winter and spring. Vlad is making one huge effort and throwing in near everything he's got if they are defeated it will break them or the army. Driving them from Ukraine might not bring peace, especially if Belarus becomes involved, but it should be the end of Vlad. Others like Yevgeny Prigozhin can't just "take over", they have a VP, parliament and processes these days. The army will probably have a coup, if the security services "took over", there will be major issues replacing Vlad, he can't just name a replacement either. There is also an election coming up in Russia, they have the form, but not the substance of a liberal democracy.

US Secretary Austin: Sending Ukraine tanks, providing global allyship crucial for sovereignty | FULL

14,767 views Streamed live 4 hours ago #GlobalNews #Ukraine #Military
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Friday that Germany was a reliable ally, and it would continue to exercise leadership, despite Berlin not yet approving its tanks being transferred to Ukraine.

Austin delivered the news conference at the Ramstein air base in Germany.

"They are a reliable ally, they've been that way for a very, very long time and I truly believe that they'll continue to be a reliable ally going forward," Austin said at the end of a meeting on arming Ukraine.

During the same press conference, the top U.S. general said he did not think Ukrainian forces could remove all Russian troops from parts of Ukraine that they had taken.

Lloyd also mentioned that by providing Ukraine with tanks and weapons, as well as allyship, the United States and other nations are standing up for sovereignty.

Germany is facing pressure to not only send some of its Leopard 2 tanks, but to allow other countries that operate the same tanks to do the same.

i wouldn't put to much into the Belarus section mate. There is a standing order right now from the actual Prez of Belarus, she's in Davos right now drumming up support, that if they cross that border they are to surrender immediately to the Ukrainians, if that does happen Lushy is in the shit big time....so we'll see

Maybe the Germans should remember that Vlad wanted them to freeze in the dark too, not just the Ukrainians!

Running out of cannon fodder from the prisons, next it will be take them anyway volunteer or not and regular conscripts will be treated the same way as prisoners. It's far more of a meat grinder for the Russians than the Ukrainians who are killing most of them with artillery while fighting defensively from fortified positions.

Ukraine War: Wagner Group mercenaries suffer heavy losses

Mercenaries from the Wagner Group are a powerful force in the war against Ukraine and are driving Russia's offensive around Bakhmut.

However, mounting casualties mean it is increasingly difficult to convince Russian prisoners to fight on the frontline.

Ukrainian Troops In Battle For Soledar Faced Waves Of Russian Infantry

"There is deep cold, frozen earth, and fighting." RFE/RL correspondent Maryan Kushnir sent this special report after spending time recently on the front line in Soledar. Later, Russian forces claimed to have seized control of the town but this has not been independently confirmed.

Russia is making a big deal of their hyper-sonic rocket. which has a 480kg payload. Just thinking out loud, a sounding rocket can fly in the same speeds. Being briefly familiar with the Black Brant (saw it first in a museum as a kid), it can have an apogee of 100km with a 1000lb payload (sorry for mixing units). P-33/34

Just need a module to control the rocket direction and a GPS coordinate with 1000lbs of high explosives and show the Kerch Bridge that this ain't no truck screaming in at Mach 7. Mind you, probably slower with control surfaces but it should be able to overcome Russian defences. Mind you, more expensive than a truck.

If it’s the Iskander, it’s a sales pitch. It’s essentially ballistic. Hypersonic is correctly reserved to the wedge-shaped bodies that can use the air to maneuver at speed.
Kinzhal gets a similar treatment. It has limited maneuvering provided by reaction, not lift.

(add) I remember lusting over a Black Brant model rocket almost 50 years ago. It used the mysterious and awe-inspiring F-class motors. More money than I had.

One of my testing duties had me clamping a hardness testing device to the outside of the Black Brant and making my measurement. It was easiest to use by straddling my legs around the rocket and planting my butt on it. Could say I had a mighty big rocket between my legs (never thought about it until now, might have been the reason I never had the impulse to buy a big truck).

I could point out a kinship between a big truck and a hardness testing device. Thank goodness I’m too refined to do such a thing.
