New grower help!!

It's day three of germination on a do-sweets-do strain. After soaking for almost 12hrs in hydrogen peroxide & water then for 36+ hrs in cotton pads then I planted 1/2in deep into its final pot. I went to check on it and I noticed the seed is cracked showing some green however no sprout... so after careful digging, I noticed the tap root barely grew in 3 days, plus, half of the seed cracked off with more green inside and the tap root is yellow by the seed top with some red and green. Can it be saved?

I was spraying the top a couple times a day to keep things moist but maybe I left it too moist? When I checked, the soil wasn't moist 2in down

Thanks for the replies!

The H202 is supposed to assist with germination I believe, advice from YouTube.. I know I'm not supposed to bother them but the red and yellow Tap root colors plus the broken shell with green had me a bit curious.

I've read posts on here of ppl digging around to check on or to save a tap root and if you're careful, it doesn't break the taproot. I won't do it again!! If this attempt doesn't sprout, I'm doing straight to soil

I have a habit of being too curious so for this seed, I've been leaving it alone until this morning. I'm learning to be more patient through this process..

if you want a fairly fool proof way, use good soil in a solo cup with drain holes. soak the soil. put seed about 1/4 to 1/8th inch down, cover lightly. put under close Floros. 24hr on to avoid it popping up and stretching when it pops. It will pop and grow if you do nothing but this. no more water until it needs it, days later

Thank you everyone, will update after I observe what happens, straight to soil from here on out. I also think the soil was too moist so I won't water for a few days time...

I would only resort to h2o2 if you are attempting to germinate really old seeds. It does bring oxygen to the embryo. However, more often than not I just sew them in plugs or straight into the soil. Definitely, do less, like people are suggesting. Seeds are very fragile.

Nothing wrong with soaking seeds til they sink. They need water to germ and its quicker than waiting for them to absorb water from soil.

I’ve actually never tried this method. I have always used the wet paper towel wrapped in foil and normally get good germ rate but I have had some old seeds not pop no matter how long I let them sit in the wet towel. Does soaking work any different or I should say better? Do they float till they absorb enough moisture? Then sink

I have read some breeders recommend to soak them for 24 hrs before putting in starter medium. But never tried them

Older seeds need proper storage or they dry out inside. I’ve heard peroxide helps but i just set them in water overnight and plant the ones that sink, it softens the hinge and the soil pulls the shell off as the seed sprouts. Supposed to plant point up, so the root does a 180.
