Hey so I got HpLVD on cuts I got from Maine a few years ago, few of you probably remember. It was even before HpLVD was really being talked about but there was some chatter about this virus being present in MJ. Anyways these cuts were awful...few strains just completely dudded out in flower...I chopped some of the strains down at like day 40 and tossed them-up u til then I never saw anything like this before. I told the ladies I got the cuts from they had some sorry of virus going on but they just played it off as funky, finicky phenos. The other ones that were infected but not as bad as the worst ones, grew very strange- total lack of vertical growth and once they where throwing some bud and colas where getting heavy the branches would snap with the slightest bump- again never seen anything like this.
Anyways glad all that shit is over, I disinfect everything with bleach now all the time-I go thru so much bleach...but one thing I somewhat forgot has to do the virus can spreading thru plastic planting pots/containers that an infected plant was in?? Reason I ask is I recently reused some of the small square plastic pots that some of the infected cuts might or might not have been grown in, however briefly. They are these really nice hard plastic square pots for seedling plants and verggig plants. I recently cleaned these square pots with soap and very hot water but now that I have my seedling plants in some of these pots and researching how the virus can be passed thru the roots it made me wonder and worry. I didn't even think of it because I only use small square plastic pots for a few weeks thenawalyas transplant into cheap amazon 5 gal fabric pot.
So I have very young just germ'd seed plants in these small plastic pots, even though I cleaned them very well but without bleach would I still be risking transferring HpLVD just from the plastic on the pots I'm using? If so I would probably get my seed plants out of these pots and transplant them since they don't have huge root systems, also they beans where very pricey, lit farms 8" bagel(gmo x project 4516) a friend bought me them to run. I tossed out the rest of the small plastic containers that had any of the infected clones in them from years ago so just wondering how easy the chances are of spreading hop latent thru just a plastic pot??
