Mars Hydro FC300 strength problems

This light has been giving me some real problems. I have optimized my grow environment so the last thing I can blame my problems on is the light. I am growing DWC, my ppm is holding pretty steady day to day, it normally increases about 5 ppm daily but is returned to normal after topping off the water.

I had this light at 60% strength hanging about 14" (in veg) above my canopy. It burned the crap out of my plants and I've been having problems getting the growth to start again. I moved it to 18" @ 50% and it is better, but still not thriving like it should. It's been about 3 weeks or so since they were burned.

I am now at 50% strength with a 24" hanging height to see how that goes. Does anyone else have experience with this light?

Strain- ilgm godfather og (monster crop clipping)
Veg- lost track, but probably like week 6 or so
Lights- Mars hydro FC3000
Humidity- 60%
Air temp- 76
Water temp (DWC)- 67
pH- 5.5-5.9 (this strain likes it a touch low)
Ppm- 585
Nutes- canna line with hydroguard and cal mag

i'd try to get your temps up to low 80sF

and is the nute burn new or old? does new growth have tip burn? and how do the roots look?

The roots look pretty good, just way behind in growth from what they should be. They are died brown from the canna nutes, but there isn't any noticable smell or slime on them.

The new growth looks healthy, but the plant is having problems producing large leaves. It's like once they hit a certain size, they burn.

I will try raising the temps to about 82 and see if that helps. I can't imagine that is the only issue tho.

those roots don't look to great to me. and you are right, there should be way more root mass for a plant that size.

are you using anything for rot prevention?

I am using hydroguard weekly as well as rhizotonic and cannazyme.

Also, every week I do a res change with this process

1. Drain old nutes
2. Fill with clean water and a small amount of h202. I let this circulate in my system for about 30 mins to clean the air stones, flush out my chiller lines, and wash my roots.
3. Drain the water/h202 and replace with fresh nutes.

I'm only running my nutes at 50% strength.

Any chance this could be caused from tap water? I haven't had any issues in the past, but I did notice that my tap water increased from 150ppm to 175ppm over the last year. I'm just grasping at straws at this point.

My other thoughts were, since my root mass is so small, should I still be top feeding?

Is the 67 water temp too low?

if i were you, i'd pause the hydroguard, rhizo and cannazyme and start using the peroxide only. you'll have to look up max dose depending on what % h2o2 you have. focus on getting those roots healthier looking.

adn i'd also cut back on nutes strength too until you get them healthier.

I'm doing a res change today. I will give it a shot. Thanks for the advice, I will report back on what happens.

Any chance you grow DWC? I have never ran sterile before and am unsure of the ideal strength for leaving the roots in there full time I'm using 3% h202 currently. I have heard 3ml/gallon from people in the past but haven't tried it.

i ran both bacteria and sterile in dwc, rdwc, etc. both worked well for me.

for sterile, i used HTH pool shock (chlorine) instead of peroxide. so i'm not much help on how much peroxide to use. if you google it, you should find it fairly easily

Not quite; 3 ppm of free chlorine is considered safe (that's very different from 3ml/gal)
There's plenty of available calculators to help determine the correct dosage which is contingent on the strength of the chlorine used

Thanks man. I gave it a shot at 3ml/gallon (3% h202) with only 40% strength A/B . How long until I should resume the beneficials? A couple weeks? Or add them back once I see improvement?

Cant help sorry, but your trellis net and pvc pipe work on it is awesome!
Thanks! That bin/trellis combo has grown some massive plants (not this grow obviously lol) and still lets me check and open the res. Highly recommend it as a DIY solution.

give it at least a few days to a week and see what happens. you will need to keep adding peroxide as it doesn't last long in a res especially if it's dealing with rot issues.

keep us posted.

What "Canna Line" nutrient are you using?

Right now, it is the aqua line
A/B veg
Cannazyme
Rhizotonic

Paired with cal mag and hydroguard
Using hydroguard AND peroxide or chlorine is not a good idea

Pick bennies or sterile, not both.

Southern Ag Garden Friendly Fungicide or GH Defguard are both the same bacteria but ~1000x more concentrated than Hydroguard

I'm not using chlorine at this point, just h202 until my roots start to recover, then I'm going to add by Benny's back in and remove the h202.

Once my hydroguard runs out, I was going to get something else, I'll definitely look into defguard and I have gotten the recommendation to use orca as well.

Honestly, if I keep having this issue, I will likely try going sterile for a run, I just worry that quality and taste will be sacrificed in doing so, but that is only an assumption, could be wrong.

There's no correlation between running sterile/bennies and the quality or taste of the final product
