Questions about seeds and stats associated

Getting into the game and was wondering what banks people buy from. Currently in a non legal state but am moving to a legal one. I wanna start as soon as I am moved in, but am weary on ordering online.

Ive seen many forums that say conflicting things like use your real name, but send them to a seperate location. Or dont use you're real name and send them to yourself. Help here please and which banks are the best. I know that shipments get confiscated without legal recourse but I obviously wanna get my seeds

Also how much info on seeds that banks provide is accurate. Im seeing basically every site and every strain is usually between 15%+ and every strain at 3ft³ is putting out 1lb+, is this actually accurate?

JBC, Chi Town seeds, D.C. Seed Exchange, Great Lakes Genetics are just a few that I've used and have been completely happy with. D.C. & GLG always have great "freebies" thrown in. These are all U.S seed banks and won't get "confiscated" you only have to worry about that when ordering outside the U.S, and even then, it's a crap shoot depending on where the seeds go thru Customs, Chicago seems to be the worst for snagging seeds. Even if they to get grabbed by customs, there is no "legal recourse" because seeds were deemed legal in the Farm Bill.
Times have changed, I always have seeds sent right to me, no different name, different address or all that. Years ago that may have been a thing, but I know people in "illegal" states that have been getting seeds shipped to them with no problems for years, nobody has come knocking on their door because they had seeds sent to them.
Most breeds will be on average 15% + THC these days, but as far as 3' plants yielding a 1lb+?? That's going to depend entirely on how you grow, don't expect to get a # from every plant you grow, just not gonna happen if your just "getting into the game" there are many, many factors involved, soil, hydro, coco, nutrients, lights etc.
Search the forums, read, read, read and then read some more. Decide on how YOU want to grow, make a list on what equipment you want, then get a good light, exhaust fan, ducting, carbon filter, tent (if that's what you want to use) etc and start small, and don't try and run 5 different strains, TAKE NOTES!!!!!!!!!!!! Make small changes if you change something, and mark it in the notes, it gives something to look back on, did it work or not, I still to this day refer back to my notebook on what was done for a strain I haven't ran in a while, because not every strain will take the same PPM, PH, TDS, feed schedule, they all have what they like and I know I can't remember everything.

Ive grown on and off through the years but its been more of a hobby and learning experience. Im now getting ready to take it to the next level and I'm glad you said something about Chicago because I current live in Wi and im guessing if I ordered through some dutch or uk sites I wouldnt and gotten my order. Im definitely unfamiliar with purchasing seeds as all of mine have come from street bags and I want more regularity when growing now.

I plan on growing from soil in a 3x3 tent. Ive also paged through the handbook and carefully pieced together every part of my tent for maxium benefit and efficiency. Before this I was just growing as if they were house plants out in the open and since I wasnt worried about quality or quantity I often let my plants seed so I could keep going on one genetic platform and narrow in the requirements for whatever pot luck strain I was growing. Im probably only going to do 1 or 2 plants at a time in this tent as it is because I dont wanna get in over my head and end up wasting seeds.

I appreciate the info. Im just a little sketched about dropping a few hundred on seeds and not getting them but if its not an issue from us shops than I feel a little more at ease!

My last order from D.C. Seed exchange (3 days in hand from payment) had some killer freebies, 1 tester they sent, is better than some of the seeds I paid for, and the tester is now available for purchase. I also ordered from Omuerta genetics out of Canada, and was worried because it went thru Chicago customs, but went thru OK, and are absolute fire. Seeds went from 50 miles from me, to 400 miles away, passed thru Chicago customs and then to me, they probably flag overseas orders more than anything. Some people still order seeds from overseas banks, and those are the ones that sometimes don't get their seeds, it just seems the most common denominator is Chicago customs, even though the USPS has dropped the ball on folks orders too and they don't get their orders, so it's not written in stone, but you have a greater chance of getting what you ordered when purchased domestically.

Im definitely gonna check them out. I just really have my eyes set on this one strain I only seem to see on euro sites. Sadly enough I got intrigued by the name Laughing Buddah. Then I found out it was a hybrid of 2 landraces. You wouldnt know off hand if you've seen that particular strain? Its not a big deal I just kinda wanna see what its like when 2 og strains collide lmao

I can't recall if I've ever seen that strain listed, who is the breeder??? The Acient OG F3 from Copa genetics was the "tester" that was sent from D.C. and its an absolute giant, and stinkier than all hell out in my "swamp" boxes. Will definitely run this one again, the one that turned out to be a male was an even better structured plant than the female, it would have probably been a 5ft tall 15ft diameter beast had it been female.

The breeder is barneys in i think amsterdam and Im guessing thats why I dont see it on us seed banks. Its a Thai x Jamaican, supposed to be pretty resistant to a lot of stuff and good for growing indoors. But like I said all the sites I looked at that had it, pretty much every strain had the same info it said 600-800g per sq meter and said average height was 110cm thats only a little over 3ft...but im guessing thats a controlled grow and forced flowring to keep it in that 110cm range. It also was a photoperiod, so technically couldnt it just keep growing till it was a massive bush or do strains actually stop growing after a certain amount of time?

Here is the position of the DEA on seeds, cultures, etc. of products that are <0.3% THC: https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/21580238/21-7692-shane-pennington-cannabis-seeds-tissue-genetic-material-11-18-21-signed-1.pdf

Here is the USPS, a common courier used by banks within the US, thoughts on it: https://about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2019/pb22521/html/updt_002.htm

So basically the DEA considers seeds to be within the parameters of the hemp bill, and the post office says it's okay to mail so long as the mailer is complying with federal and state laws. "So long as the mailer is complying..." which brings up the source theory, in which seeds, oils etc., derived from plants that are >0.3% are not legal based on the CBD laws which the hemp bill did not clarify.

I'd imagine in the next couple of years this will be ruled on legally so there is no gray area that a lawyer can argue for or against. As now, lots of US banks are offering credit card options which means they're not too concerned about the source theory.

As for confiscation, the seeds that have to go through customs are the sources you need to be concerned with. That said, some (all?) overseas seed banks have hubs in the US. That is, a bunch of orders are placed online and then a bulk package is sent to the US and then from there are separated into their individual customer orders and shipped from within the US to a US customer via USPS.

That means now the chance of confiscation comes from their end when their package crosses customs, whereas it used to come straight from another country direct to your address and if seized, US customs would send a note to you advising that they seized your seeds. Some banks would ship out another set of seeds if you furnished that letter.

As for addresses etc., it's pretty easy to have seeds shipped without being associated to your address and name, if you're concerned about being in databases that could theoretically be discovered by the feds despite being in a legal grow state. After all, at the end of the day, it is legal to cultivate in your state but it is not federally legal. Personally, it's nothing I worry about, though.

I just ordered directly from a breeder this month and got the seeds 3 days later. He also gave me a shitload of real deal seeds for freebies, which was a pleasant surprise.

Thank you, I appreciate the logistical info and regulation guidelines. Ive never done this before so its a little nerve racking, but I know the anxiety of it will wear off immediately after I just do it. Ive always loved the plant and I just wanna take it more seriously now. Im a long ways away but Ive always dreamed of entering strain into a cannabis cup.

Hey sorry to bug ya again. I checked dc seed exchange and you were definitely right. Its a great site. Im keyed in on one strain they have and was wondering if you tired it out. The strain and breeder is caramel cream, humbolt seeds. Also looking at rock cotton candy. But prolly leaning more towards the caramel cream.

I haven't tried the Caramel Cream, it wasn't out yet when I made my order of Humboldt strains. But, I'm growing Pistschio, Humboldt Dream, Squirt, Notorious THC, Blueberry muffin, Lemongrass, and Bigfoot Glue, and they are all kicking it in the swamp boxes right now, a couple over 8ft. Bigfoot glue was the "runt" of the run, it stalled while everything else grew for about 3 weeks. When I put it outside, it was starving, and pretty much eating itself because I didn't intend on running out there this year, but had to replace a male that popped up, and glad I did, it recovered and is the tallest of the bunch of right now. Overall I'm pretty impressed with every strain I've got going from Humboldt right now.

Damn, im never going to have that much going at one time. But its good to know humbolts genetics are as good as they say. I leaning on this one cuz if the average terp content and ease of grow, it says its a great one for beginners.

I'm allowed to grow 12 plants, so this year I hit it, and every strain from Humboldt has been pretty impressive IMO. The blueberry muffin is just that, you can stand next to it, and just smell the goodness, the most blueberry strain I've ever smelled, can't wait to do a run of hash with it this year.

Tbh im kind of excited about dabbling in making concentrates as well, although Im probably just going to start out with a live rosin press as its as easy as filling a sack and turning it on. But they are a lot more expensive than I thought theyd be. Im seeing 500-700 for a really small one. Is that blueberry a sativa dom or indica? I suppose I could just look for myself but a lot of humbolt is out of stock right now.

I want to say probably 60/40 indica/sativa by the looks of it. I got into doing ice water hash last year, and really like it, the wife won't smoke anything else now, LOL
Bought a cheap washer on Amazon for $34.95 and a set of bags, and ran a bunch last year. Haven't even smoked half of what I washed yet. Pretty much sold me on not smoking flower, since I can smoke and not smell like I just smoked, and the high is great. I've got a run of a "cake" strain that is absolute Mango tasting from start to finish.
Check out another seed bank called Hembra Genetics, that's where I got all my Humboldt strains from, 3 days from payment to mailbox, and the Pistachio was a freebie.

It's been a while but seedbank (used to be seedking) is great. It was fast and discreet shipped from Cali if I remember right. They have tons of strains

Thanks, i will take every reputable seed exchange or bank that ships to all 50 states. Seems like the more you look, the more you see one bank has a selection that others dont. Do you know of any that get seeds from the holland/amsterdam/uk area. Ive seen some im interested in but I cant find most here in the states
