Medicating - going from rosin dabs to flower vape?

I purchased a Puffco Peak Pro about a year ago, and for the most part haven't smoked flower or used cartridges since then; tried one 710 tier 4 rosin cart but was not impressed with the taste - and any higher tiers (3, 2, 1) are priced such that you might as well buy a gram of rosin. Long-term goal is a perpetual grow that will produce six pounds a year - which, when pressed, should provide a years' worth of rosin - but I haven't been able to start my grow yet, and there would still be some time before that first harvest.
Until then, the cost of rosin is starting to become a bit much, so I was looking into picking-up a quality vaporizer (S&B Mighty +) with the thinking that it may be more economical. That said, I did have a few questions:

- will vaping flower produce a smell similar to smoking? I realize you're not burning anything, but was wondering how much residual smell there might be in my den after I finish a bowl;
- will I smell as though I've just smoked a bowl?
- is vaping any more/less efficient than smoking?
- is vaping any more/less healthy than dabbing rosin? I would think they'd be similar, but if hash rosin has less plant material would that matter?
- any other suggestions?

I started off many years ago with three foot bong hits and a bubbler, my go-to for many years was a small wood pipe, and I was a 'carts-only' guy for a few years. I'm old enough to NOT want to start smoking again, and I just can't bring my self to dab resin or use resin/distillate cart - some sort of mental block.
I did have a vaporizer back in the late 90s - looked like a snow globe with a whip attached to the base; I hope there's been vast improvements in the technology since then, as it left a bit to be desired.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Here's my 2 cents worth. I wouldn't recommend any of those things. Try edibles. Just reading it sounded like lung issues.

If you are inhaling it I would use something to dab oil. It is a lot easier to make good RSO than it used to be. You can also use it any way you want. I like to make cinnamon raisin toast. Spread a little butter on. Add however much RSO you want, and dust with cinnamon.

So what do you use currently to vape?

Is vaping flower hard on lungs, there's no burnt particles being inhaled right?

I do have a dry herb vape that I really like. It also has a metal pad for oil. Mine is a Stary 3.0. If you go with a vapor get one with good temperature control. The default temp on mine is 356f. That's hot enough to vaporizer cannabinoids, but not hot enough for smoke. You are getting the oil but not so much of the plant.

My other favorite is the Dabbox. You can use oil but I don't think you are supposed to. it's excellent fot what it is.

I think we are talking about vaping? I've been eating cookies all night and can't remember. :eyesmoke:

I find dry herb vaping to be the most sustainable for long term medical use. Once you get into extracts, your tolerance gets so messed up. I love kief and hash too, but I really try to stick to regular dry herb vaping to get the most consistent long term results. It will take a while to get used to if going from concentrates. As for the vape odor, it doesn't stick to you like smoke does. A few minutes outside and I doubt anyone could smell it on you unless they were sniffing you directly. Same with a room, it dissipates quickly. Dry herb vaping is MUCH easier on the lungs, but you still get some fine particulates coming through and the vape itself can irritate the lungs if overdone. As for which is "healthier"-Extracts are more likely to have a chemical residue, unless co2 extraction is common, so flower might have an edge there. All these kids who are getting this vomiting syndrome are using extracts too, so that's another reason to transition to flower.

There are some really cool new vapes these days-I just found out about DynaVap vapes and induction heaters-I want to get the DynaVap Omni because titanium is cool! Right now I have an Arizer Q (I think) and used to have the same one with the bag option-both work well but I'm ready for something new. When you get a new vape, you need to put some work in to figure out how to get the best use out of it, so don't give up if you don't like it right away. I can barely even smoke hash anymore, my lungs just want to reject the smoke after so much mild vape.

Honestly, just get the original titanium Dynavap tip, captive cap and a glass stem. The metal stems are overpriced and IME glass provides better cooling. Or just use the Dynavap tip with a water pipe adapter and a glass piece for the best experience (pic related). Just drop the whole thing into an induction heater and start pulling once it clicks, two cycles and the bowl is done (dark), but still has enough stuff in it to get you feeling lazy if you eat about a gram of it.

Omg, thanks for this! I understand the system much better now after looking at all the accessories, wow you really have a lot of options with this thing, endless really.

See if you can get one secondhand, i love my volcano.

Its pretty much like an electric bong if you turn it up high and cook it all in one hit

thanks for the info; I agree with you on tolerances - and something like the Peak Pro is almost TOO convenient (though I do go thorough q-tips pretty quick); hoping maybe a dry herb vape will be a little bit more involved

Just ordered a Storz & Bickel Mighty+ vaporizer along with the dosing capsule filling set. Planet of the Vape had them at 20% off - plus 15% off next order. Will report back early next week (guess I need to pick up a few 1/8s).

Placed an order for a 1/2 oz of Cake Crasher (Wedding Cake X Wedding Crasher) from 710 Labs; should be here a day before the Mighty+ - gotta love it when things come together!

Very, very pleased with the Mighty+. Simple to use and works wonderfully - the dosing capsules make loading bowls very easy, with no mess in the device. I would highly recommend for anyone considering a dry herb vaporizer.
First time trying 710 Labs flower - apart from being too sticky for my grinder, very impressed.
