My own grow weed doesn't get me high

Hello, I have been use marijuana for many years. I've been growing my own weed for 3 years So far I have grown Auto Tutankhamun, Auto Blueberry Kush, Auto Big Devil XL, Auto Mexican Airlines. I dried each harvest I grew for 1 week and cured it for 2+ weeks. I used Mars Hydro TS1000. I used organic and chemical liquid nutrients of Terra Aquatica (General Hydroponics and General Organics). I used Coco, super soil and dwc techniques. So, you see, I have grow various strains in various ways. But all the highs were the same. None of them were psychedelic and trippy. I was dancing with my emotions when I smoked the marijuana I bought before I started growing. I was living in the music. But my own grown cannabis only put me at relaxed. Sativa-dominated genes relaxed my mind, indica-dominated genes relaxed my body. I don't think this is marijuana tolerance. Because I don't use marijuana for 3 months every year. All the plants I grow were healthy and I had no problems. Where do you think I am doing wrong? I've always grow autoflowers until now. What are you thinking? Thanks for answers.

If you want psychedelic and trippy eat mushrooms.

You would think you would have asked this question well before wasting a three years of growing with the same results.

Definitely the autoflower fault. I just heard the other day they give a bad “taste” surely that has to be it.

You might be using too much of your own supply and developing tolerance for everything that you grow. A lot of times I feel like my homegrown is not doing much for me. If you can trade with another grower, you both might get higher for a while because you need a little change every now and then.

I only bought seeds once and they are all autoflower. Now I'm going to buy seeds again. That's why I'm asking this question now. I love trippy cannabis as much as mushrooms. :) I hope the problem is with the autoflowers as you guessed. Thank you for the answer.

So far I've always harvested the same strains and just smoked it until it's gone. If I'm not mistaken, you're saying that I need to add variety. I can only make this variety by growing more than one strain.

Harvesting early
Most likely this. My first grow I ruined the height and cut at exactly 8 weeks from the flip. The weed was trash. On my current grow I started counting flower from pistils showing and I am going to let them go as many weeks as it takes using a microscope on the swollen bud tissue. I had plenty of milky and amber on the sugar leaves of my first grow, but have since learned you want to test the swollen calyxes after most of the pistils start pulling in.

“Trippy” requires long slow sativas
I doubt you have the patience to wait 4-6 months after the flip
But that’s what it takes
Not many have the desire or ability

Let see pics of trichs on the buds
Full plant pics
And bud shots
Thanks and WELCOME TO RIU :weed:
I can't keep photos as it's illegal in the country I live in. But next time I grow I will definitely post photos here before harvest. Thank you very much for your answer.

If I'm finally happy at the end, I'll wait. As I said, there are long periods in a year when I can't smoke. Actually, I am patient. Is there a strain you can recommend me?

I never cared about the calyxes until now. All I looked at were the trichomes. Looks like this is the mistake I made.
Run photos ….. mystery solved.
You can run photos like an auto ….
My next plant will definitely be photoperiod.

I was about ready to give up on auto flowers but I grew some that hit me harder than anything I have tried in a while. And then I tried them again and it wasn’t as overwhelming as the first time. It’s hard to be scientific when you are using yourself as a Guinea pig, bros.

I'm with the you harvested early crowd. Trichomes can lie to you. If you look at the wrong spot on the plant for trichomes they will be amber you will think you should chop, trichomes can go amber if you touch them, too strong of a wind.... amber in some areas.

Trichomes are not a good way to guage ripeness

We need pics to confirm. Do you have pics of the bud? Pics of the plant?

Triches are just one of many pieces of harvest puzzle - too many growers shoot themselves in foot trying to ‘ gauge’ ripeness by amber vs cloudiness crap. As you become more garden savvy , you will know ripeness without scoping. Many growers here have moved beyond this .

Study actual harvest ready pics. You will see flowers differently.

It also helps to take some samples at week intervals on your first run( or two/3 )with something since not everything matures at the same rate even in your own space. These plants are unique to each other and you do have to kind of learn them so to speak. Then you’ll know for sure, for sure.

I know some people will say this is a horrible thing but in my opinion it’s perfectly okay to cut off a flower and zap it in a microwave to dry it out and smoke and see if it is stony enough. I personally can’t tell a damn thing from squinting at trichomes through a magnifying glass. I was told here “never base a chop on a smoke test!” Why not? If you have a plant that “looks” like it is ready and the flowers get you high, what’s the harm in pulling the trigger? I am talking about people growing for their own personal use and spending their own money to do it, not someone trying to turn a big profit with investor financing.
