Is a reversal of Roe v Wade decision next?

You are so impatient. These things are the death knell of the Republican party, maybe not today but wait, time will not be kind to them.

Remember when this thread was considered alarmist?

Those were the days.
They were put on the court for this purpose, the conspiracies never started with Trump. The J6 investigations could provide some leverage on the appointment process inside the white house and senate for Trump's appointments, as politicians and others make plea deals. It's time to do things, gather financing and organize on the political front. Hold an impeachment inquiry and humiliate Thomas into retirement on TV by destroying his wife, if she is guilty, war is Hell...

wow...i know a lot of women of various colors who would tell you just how much entitled self indulgent bullshit that statement is...

The practice of human slavery grew as the world became more civilized and organized cities and farms were developed. Sumer or Sumeria is still thought to be the birthplace of slavery, which grew out of Sumer into Greece and other parts of ancient Mesopotamia. The Ancient East, specifically China and India, didn’t adopt the practice of slavery until much later, as late as the Qin Dynasty in 221 BC. Historians debate whether or not the practice of slavery in India existed before this time, but many believe argue against its existence as there is no word in ancient Sanskrit that can be translated as “slave.”
Sumericans and their neighbors at that time were of asiatic descent, and their nearest neighbors were Akkadians, who were a very dark skinned people...

so, while i'm not trying to devalue the rage you must feel dealing with this evil fucking decision from trumps finger puppets, let's keep a small amount of perspective about it...

All women were slaves to their biology and religion, not just white ones. A hundred years ago women gained the franchise and some political power. 50 years ago the pill and contraception can into general use and they gained power over their biology. At the same time religion lost it total grip on society and that freed women too. We are part of an ongoing process and to an extent some of the process is under our control. So, now women can use their political power (along with allied men) and their financial power created by controlling their fertility, to effect change.

Remember though Trump had 46% of white women in 2016 with grab them by the pussy and in 2020 he had 52% of white women after he appointed his judges and created a disaster for four years. Trump and the republicans gained among white women during the Trump presidency. There are not that many "Christians" in America, so what is the "greater cause" they are fucking themselves for? Well many women like a "Strongman" leader, especially if they feel fear and as Donald's social statues diminishes, his support among white women will diminish in lock step. It works like that with Putin too and older women are his biggest fans. However, you still have probably 60% or more of white women who are republican and will vote that way in November, even if many don't like the abortion ruling. In war sacrifices have to be made and one of them is your rights, that you volunteer to give up so your side can win.

And what would be your favourite verse?
Is it this one?

1 Timothy 2:12
I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain silent.

Misogyny came to Turtle Island after 1492. First Nations people cherished woman. Their creator is Mother Earth.
Back then they were worse than Trumpers are today and inserted shit into the Bible all over the place and put word's into Christ's mouth he never spoke. Probably the creation of some incel scribe copying a text he needed to set right. I mean look at it today, Jesus never said a word about abortion and neither does the Bible, but you would think the unborn were his biggest concern. If these people were hand copying the bible today, do you think it would suddenly proscribe abortion with Christ's own words?

I took no action against the truck in my neighborhood with Dump's Revenge Tour..last I looked the people spoke by slashing at, pulling pieces off. It'll be gone soon.
I am pretty surprised there weren't riots here over the weekend. From what I gather the big Avalanche watch party downtown is canceled today. They had that, Pride, and roe v wade protesters out this weekend, nothing too crazy happened though. The only thing I saw was the hockey people crashed some barriers at an event that was at capacity and not letting more people in on Friday.

South Dakota governor says she will ban abortion pills prescribed online
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) on Sunday said she will ban telemedicine appointments with abortion care providers who prescribe pills online in the GOP-controlled state in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

Noem told host Margaret Brennan on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that she brought a bill forward in her state to ban the telemedicine appointments in order to block women from getting prescription abortion pills online and receiving them through the mail.

“These are very dangerous medical procedures,” Noem argued. “We don’t believe it should be available because it is a dangerous situation for an individual without being medically supervised by a physician.”

The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday, punting the future of abortion rights back to states to decide whether they want to ban abortion procedures or tighten restrictions.

South Dakota passed a trigger law that went into effect immediately after Roe was overturned.

The state’s law bans abortions except in the case of saving a mother’s life and makes it a felony to perform the procedure.

Since the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol, a legal fight is likely to ensue between GOP states pushing to restrict access to the pills and the federal government under the Biden administration.

Attorney General Merrick Garland on Friday said the Department of Justice will protect women’s abortion rights and their ability to get the pills.

Noem on Sunday said the Biden administration has “been overstepping its authority” and states will now decide what restrictions on abortions they wish to pass.

“The constitution does not give a women the right to an abortion,” Noem told Brennan on CBS. “The power to make these decisions really goes to each individual state.”

Ocasio-Cortez says conservative justices lied under oath, should be impeached
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y) on Sunday said conservative U.S. Supreme Court justices who “misled” Americans during their confirmation hearings about whether or not they supported overturning Roe v. Wade should be impeached and face “consequences” for lying under oath.

Ocasio-Cortez told NBC’s “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd the Supreme Court “dramatically overreached its authority” and created a “crisis of legitimacy” that President Biden should address.

“If we allow Supreme Court nominees to lie under oath and secure lifetime appointments to the highest court of the land and then issue — without basis, if you read these opinions — rulings that deeply undermine the human civil rights of the majority of Americans, we must see that through,” the lawmaker said.

“There must be consequences for such a deeply destabilizing action and the hostile takeover of our democratic institutions,” she added.

The Supreme Court on Friday overturned the 1973 precedent Roe v. Wade in a 5-4 decision, giving states the ability to decide abortion laws for the first time in roughly 50 years.

Conservative justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett — who each voted in the majority to overturn Roe — were criticized for dodging the question of overturning the precedent during their respective confirmation hearings or saying they would not support overturning the case.

Ocasio-Cortez on Sunday said lying under oath is an impeachable offense and there should be consequences to deter it from happening again.

“What makes it particularly dangerous is that it sends a blaring signal to all future nominees that they can now lie to duly elected members of the United States Senate in order to secure a Supreme Court confirmation,” she said.

Good luck with impeaching them with the Republicans blocking it.

your figures are somewhat misleading...trump never had 46% or 52% of white women in America voting for him, he had 46% of the white women who voted voting for him...in 2020, 69% of white women voted, 46 % of 69% is 31%....so 31% of white women eligible to vote in 2020 voted for trump...that leaves 69%. about 40% voted for Biden, which is actually about 27% of all white women, so really, only 58% of white women in the country voted, that's 42% that can still be mobilized...that is a huge amount of votes, and many of them will vote now that didn't before. those are the women that need to be reached, that need to be mobilized...

this is going to come to open warfare, i can feel it in my bones...at least we'll finally be rid of all the republican fucknut bastards, just sad that it will rip the country apart...but it needs to have the festering wound of fascist authoritarianism lanced and drained of the poison that is killing the constitution.

the hearings should be held, whether they win or lose, the dirt has to be drug into public view, they have to be exposed for the liars they are, and it needs to be made clear that the majority of the country does not agree with them, supoport them, or want them or their shitty decisions...there can be NO pretense that this is acceptable, and it needs to be made clear that it will be changed back to the way it was at the very first opportunity, and then codified into law before they can try this repressive, regressive fucking filth again

I posted a Pew report on it earlier and should have specified voters, but that is why a big national ground game organized by women can have a big impact with enough volunteers pounding the pavement, registering voters, motivating them etc. A third of people don't vote, mostly the young and others can change their minds when issues stack up. The point is, every woman and man who voted for republicans fucked themselves, but white voters sure do like it and can't get enough, judging from the stats.

Hutchinson says Arkansas abortion providers should face ‘criminal penalty,’ not women
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) on Sunday said abortion providers should face criminal penalties for performing procedures but said women would not be prosecuted in his state for getting an abortion.

In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd, the GOP governor said only doctors who perform an abortion to save the life of a mother would not be prosecuted.

“They have to make those medical judgments and it’s not the state’s judgment to reconfigure those or rethink those,” Hutchinson said. “The decision has to be made whether it’s an [illegal] abortion, and then you go after the provider, and there’s a criminal penalty [but not for] the woman.”

After the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday, Arkansas’s trigger law banning abortions with the only exception to save the life of the mother went into effect.

The law makes it illegal to perform an abortion, with violators facing up to 10 years in prison. There are no exceptions for rape or incest.

Hutchinson on Sunday said the law is meant to “save the unborn baby.”

“You use the power of the state to say, ‘Unless the health of the mother is at risk, let’s carry that child to term,'” the governor said. “When you’re saving life, that’s an appropriate role of the state.”

Whitmer says ‘no common ground’ with Republican-controlled Michigan legislature on abortion
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) said on Sunday that it is a “scary moment” for women as Republicans in her state push to ban abortion after Friday’s Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

“What I’m trying to fight for is the status quo in Michigan, and there are reasonable restrictions on that,” Whitmer told CBS “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan. “With the current legislature that I have, there is no common ground, which is the sad thing.”

But later in the interview, Whitmer did say some “compromise was possible” as she referred to Republican efforts as a “radical agenda.”

A 1931 Michigan law had banned abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest, but the Roe decision decades later made the law unconstitutional.

As the Supreme Court weighed a challenge to Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, eventually overturning the landmark case on Friday, a judge last month granted a preliminary injunction temporarily blocking the decades-old Michigan law.

Abortion remains legal in Michigan as long as the injunction remains in place, and Whitmer on Friday filed a motion asking the Michigan Supreme Court to recognize a right to abortion under the state’s constitution.

Meanwhile, the GOP-controlled Michigan legislature asked a court earlier this month to reconsider its decision granting a preliminary injunction, the Detroit Free Press reported.

“They’ve all endorsed the 1931 law, as [have] all of the Republican people running for governor,” Whitmer told Brennan on Sunday. “They want abortion to be a felony, no exceptions for rape or incest. That’s the kind of legislature that I’m working with. That’s the kind of matchup I’m going to have this fall.”

Whitmer is up for reelection in November, and multiple Republicans will face off in an August primary in their bid to challenge her.

“We’re pulling out all the stops,” Whitmer said. “This is a fight like hell moment."

Rep. Mary Miller calls Roe decision ‘victory for white life’
U.S. Rep. Mary Miller of Illinois, speaking at a rally Saturday night with former President Donald Trump, called the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade a “victory for white life.”

Miller’s spokesman said the Illinois Republican had intended to say the decision was a victory for a “right to life.” The line as delivered was out of step with the disproportionate impact the repeal of abortion rights will have on women of color.

Miller is running for reelection in the state’s newly redrawn 15th Congressional District against GOP Rep. Rodney Davis with the former president’s blessing. She had been invited on stage to speak by Trump, who held the rally in Mendon, Illinois, to turn out the vote ahead of the state’s Tuesday primary.
