That’s awesome. Wonder if you could use a roach as bait. I mean it almost fooled you

I'm just about to set up and wait for darkness I'm exited af
I have bought and rigged many treble baits with swivel hooks on them. I prefer it. When the hook just spins the fish can't use the leverage of it not spinning to tear the hook out.Does anyone re arrange the treble set up on bib/rapala type lures?
I found for the number of fish hooked with rapalas on the river and the amount landed is too far apart I loose circa 40% of salmon hooked with rapalas compared to circa 10% with fly Cs... But rapalas ime create the most takes.

After a bit of googling for the best of both worlds I read the std hook set up creates leverage if the lure is twisted/spun around (makes sense) and recommended this set up.
The trout stuck but I've not had a chance to test it on salmon yet.
I tie the hook up with fine nylon and a slip knot (grinner) when a fish takes the hook the nylon comes away so the fish can cartwheel without the threat of levering the hook out.
What's your thoughts?
That's good to hear it works in practice not just in theory, I think all these little things matter I'm always looking for any edge I can find.I have bought and rigged many treble baits with swivel hooks on them. I prefer it. When the hook just spins the fish can't use the leverage of it not spinning to tear the hook out.
It definitely increases land ratio.
A medium powered moderate action rod helps a ton as well. The parabolic bend in a med action helps keep the fish pinned as well due to the rod being able to absorb the pull of the fish.
These things absolutely matter.
It’s a cracker I seriously need something like that it's been ages since I had a good scrap, we keep getting enough to rain to spoil the weather but not raise the river I feel like bairn waiting for Christmas lol.
