It has a dump valve that you can hook a standard garden hose to and never have to take the top off to dump. I only take the top of mine off every grow cycle to clean it. I'll occasionally suck up some bleach to keep things clean.

You can get a manual liquid transfer pump for $12 on Amazon. The battery ones are fine too, just less reliable and use batteries like crazy.

I got one of those on Amazon when it was on sale for $23 a couple of weeks ago, but haven't set it up yet as I'm waiting for my runoff trays to come in still. Looking forward to getting it dialed in.

I use a tray to catch the run off raised at one end and a piece of capillary matt at the low end to empty the run off into the jug, during veg they're on the floor so I use the syringe to feed them and empty the run off from the tray.

One time I did a whole coco grow and sucked all the runoff trays off with a water blaster from the dollar store. Also could feed pots with in way in the back.
