LOL! Does anyone remember the guy (Chinese sales rep) who was here years ago and had COBs that could be printed to look like yin/yang symbols, etc.? And the COBs he ws advertising could be run over by an army vehicle and not go out. In fact, I think that's what they were trying to sell to the army -lights that wouldn't go out under almost any circumstances. Anyone? I remember the guy was very good natured...of course he took a lot of shit from the naysayers and disappeared, but some of those videos he posted were funny! I never saw any more about those COBs anywhere after that. I guess that's the testament to them...unless the army DID pick them up! Who knows?

I just looked at the datasheet for the duet 2400w. The numbers are poor at max current (I didn't see a nominal current listed). If it was driven at 600 watts it would provide about 1.5 umol/j and 1.6 umol/j at 400 watts. The Apollo 900 at 520w is only 110 LPW so not great. Looks like they haven't updated since 2018.

Still running 6 year old Veros but they are slowly being phased out by Sammy strip builds. Love the Veros but fuck the fixtures are heavy compared to the strips. Even Jungle Boys were still rubbishing LEDs up until a year or so ago and now they are building giant LED only facilities in Florida.

Yeah leds are more efficient, cost less to run, have tunable spectrums etc. I have hlgs and they’re the shit. Bud quality and plant physiology wise though, out the box, they can’t compare with cmh. Even the ones with uva chips don’t even come close.

The only thing that keeps me using led + hps (in a cooltube) is the fact that hid still explode and you can’t put cmh in a cooltube unless you wanna give up their main advantage

Been running 315 cmh for years, never had one explode. I buy good bulbs when I need em. I also run a hlg 350 diy light with em. I want to go pure led but I really like the 315 s for uv and bud density. Can't pull the trigger yet.

Yeah I get that mate, I know it’s very rare but it’s a risk, and cos of where my grow tent is it’s just a risk I can’t take if I wanna be going on holiday n leaving everything running
