Any hope for a favorable result in this crisis is now gone IMO, now switching gears hoping for least damaging ending.To me the 2 worst possible scenarios are 1. Accidental hostilities between Russian and NATO troops bordering each other eg. NATO combat air patrols skirmishing w/Russian air patrols on the borderlines of hostilities or Russian air defense radars tracking and mistakenly shooting gr/air missiles at them (perilous escalation just waiting to happen).2. Putin moves on Kviv, the resulting carnage would be immense should urban combat in a city of 3 million occur. Does Vlad really want to brutally hunt down Ukraine's Federal democratically elected gov. and put their heads on sticks, he would share a legacy w/Attila the Hun. The way things are trending now I wouldn't be surprised if another Covid "variant of concern" emerges to pile on to all this BS,cause it seems the world is in a rut of dowmward spiral IMO.All the aforementioned I hope to be wrong but "just saying".

Nothing will happen. Russia will take over the area like they did Crimea. The best to hope for would be to get the people that want to remain in Ukraine out. Many have been evacuated before hand.

“In light of the most recent developments, we must reassess the situation, in particular, regarding Nord Stream 2,” Scholz said, according to CNBC.
Scholz reportedly stated that his nation would not recognize the pro-Russian, separatist regions of Ukraine, adding that he would order German officials to “make sure that this pipeline cannot be certified at this point in time, and without this certification Nord Stream 2 cannot operate.”
“The appropriate departments of the economy ministry will make a new assessment of the security of our supply in light of what has changed in last few days,” Scholz said, according to CNBC.
Nord Stream 2, which was constructed to double the gas flow from Russia to Germany, had been a source of contention. It faced opposition from Washington and Kyiv due to concerns that it would increase European energy dependence on Moscow and make Ukraine more susceptible to a Russian invasion, notes Reuters.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a tweet on Tuesday that President Biden "made clear that if Russia invaded Ukraine, we would act with Germany to ensure Nord Stream 2 does not move forward."
"We have been in close consultations with Germany overnight and welcome their announcement," she added. "We will be following up with our own measures today."

President Biden said Tuesday that the U.S. would sanction Russian sovereign debt and Russian elites as well as their family members in response to Russia’s deployment of troops to regions in eastern Ukraine.
Biden also said that the U.S. would sanction Russian financial institutions, VEB and Russia’s military bank.
The announcement came a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics as independent and thereafter ordered Russian troops into the Donbas region.
On Tuesday, Russian lawmakers greenlit a request by Putin to use military force outside of Russia, a move that could pave the way for a broader Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“He is setting up a rationale to take more territory by force, in my view,” Biden said of Putin in remarks from the East Room. “This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.”
The president made clear that the sanctions were an initial response to Russian aggression and said his administration would impose further sanctions if Moscow engaged in a broader invasion of Ukraine.

Qatari official says it will be 'almost impossible' to quickly replace Russian exports to Europe
Saad al-Kaabi, Qatar's Minister of State for Energy Affairs, said that his country's volumes are locked up in long-term contracts with majority Asian buyers. Al-Kaabi said that the amount of divertable volumes that can be sent to Europe is only 10 to 15 percent, Reuters reported.
"Russia (provides) I think 30-40 percent of the supply to Europe. There is no single country that can replace that kind of volume, there isn’t the capacity to do that from LNG," al-Kaabi said at a gas conference in Doha. "Most of the LNG are tied to long-term contracts and destinations that are very clear. So, to replace that sum of volume that quickly is almost impossible."
Al-Kaabi's remarks come as the European Union agreed to impose a round of economic sanctions against Russia for recognizing two separatist controlled regions of eastern Ukraine and moved Russian troops into those respective areas.
Along with the EU's actions, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that he would be stopping the certification of the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline from Russia.
Earlier this month, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen insisted that the EU would be able to survive the winter without Russia's gas.
"For the time being we would be able to replace the Russian gas with LNG [liquefied natural gas] deliveries that we get from our friends all over the world," von der Leyen said, according to Politico, adding that Europe should accelerate its investments into sustainable energy to become more independent from Russian gas exports.
"A strong European Union cannot be so reliant on an energy supplier that threatens to start a war on our continent. Gazprom, a Russian state-owned company, is deliberately trying to store and deliver as little as possible," she said.
As Reuters noted, the U.S. has recently approached other countries like Japan, asking that they reroute their gas supplies to Europe in the event of conflict. Japan has agreed to divert some of its LNG cargoes to Europe in response to requests from the U.S. and the EU.

In a press conference from Warsaw on Friday, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin alluded to the possibility that these troops would help American citizens leave Ukraine.
“We appreciate Poland for hosting an additional 4,700 U.S. soldiers who are prepared to respond to a range of [contingencies], and they will work closely with our State Department and with Polish authorities, should there be any need to help American citizens leave Ukraine,” Austin said at the time.
