Some plants do not like it from experience. Some plants thrive, if you can grow a satisfactory yield and not strip leaves awesome I would go that route, I'm personally trying to pack as many colas into my net as possible and get the most airflow and light penetration possible. I have done trials since 2019 with Punch Cookies by Symbiotic (as in previous pics) and it went from 10 ounces per/plant to 13-14 ounces per/plant just by practicing heavy defoliation and topping the plants a couple times around. The question is, is there a need for it?
IMO (past experiences), besides uncovering top budsites and lollipoping the bottom larf, anything further is "doable" but "uneeded".
It does make harvesting a lot easier/less messy though.
I can only say try and see, just don't go super heavy and leave the top few nodes of the branch and let the plant develop UP from there. As you can see in the first pic I leave the tops but strip everything else below, by the time the plants are in full bloom you have a few feet of colas and those lower buds get mid sized instead of small scraggles. Trial & Error everyone has their opinion.
