Both lights are too much light for a 4x4, use them dimmed until you get that 5x5..
I've narrowed my field to two lights - the S. Diablo and the FC 6500. I'm impressed with the PPFD chart for both, but as said earlier in the thread we don't know if Mars does their own testing or if they farm it out to a lab like HLG.
Anyone who has either lamp please post your experiences, in particular is the S. Diablo too much light for a 4'x4' tent? I see it advertised for a 5' x 5' flowering footprint.
.
.I would still buy the Diablo and future proof yourself in case you want to upsize tents. You can always dim your light. Shut up Brock.
Really wished they would have had these out when I did my buildout. Best ones they had in 2018 were the 550 V2's..
LOL!
That's the way I'm leaning, Scorpion Diablo and too much light be damned!
.
impossible to have too much light, money, beer and pu&&y. lol.too much light be damned!
you'd think some of these companies would let you turn in older models and upgrade to the newest at a discount or something?? especially in a commerical setup like you guysReally wished they would have had these out when I did my buildout. Best ones they had in 2018 were the 550 V2's.
Yeah... I thought about contacting Stephen to see if there's a program like that or something.you'd think some of these companies would let you turn in older models and upgrade to the newest at a discount or something?? especially in a commerical setup like you guys
especially if you put up pics like you do.Yeah... I thought about contacting Stephen to see if there's a program like that or something.
After that right there, I wouldn't buy a light from anyone else....
Thanks for all the advice, looks like most people are for the HLG. Brock sent me this email this morning:

Hey Hobbes,
Interesting discussion.
While the HLG Scorpion Diablo and R-spec are going to be more ideal in limited height environments they may be a bit op for a 4x4. The 650R and 600R will also do well but it will be similar output to the scorpions. The 650/600 also would just require a bit more low stress training.
We did roll out the HLG Blackbird as our newest fixture and this one was designed with a 4x4 in mind.
Lastly, a 4th option is available as well. Running 2 HLG 350Rs. This will be comparable in price with the HLG 650R, but the advantages of running in limited height, similar to a Scorpion Diablo.
Output would have to be a consideration again though. At full power with both 350Rs you would be getting about 1300PPFD across the tent, which is quite a bit.
If I was looking to make a choice it would be:
1: HLG Blackbird
2: 2x HLG 350R
3: HLG Scorpion Diablo.

This guy tests practically everything manufactured. Looks perfect for a 4x4. I would rather have too much light and just dim it for the space vs not having enough light or just barely having enough

.I'm rocking an Eagle Grow Light 650-Si. I like the even light spread and how low to canopy this can go. For me, it allows more efficient use of tent space and larger plant sizing
Yep! HLG has great customer service! After that right there, I wouldn't buy a light from anyone else...
agree, similar to mars fc6500. the model i have, however, does not fold. there are other models that do..
.
Visajoe it looks to be competitive with Mars' FC 6500, a nice light.
How are you liking yours and what was the price?
Thanks.
