Greetings and Salutations from San Francisco!

I have been living in San Francisco since 2014
And now I finally have a home!

I was homeless for a long while and now I have a wonderful apartment and I'm ready for the first time in my life to grow weed!

I have been doing a lot of online research and studying things about soil and pH and nutrients and water and conditions and lighting.

I have had a pretty good Green thumb in the past as I used to grow watermelons in Texas and also in Spokane Washington I had a small garden.

But of course cannabis is a much different animal and I am at the point where I I'm deciding on which grow light to use.

I have a wonderfully tall window that has about a 5 foot headroom, that is only getting indirect Sun as it is in between two buildings.

So the good news is I can grow a pretty tall strain, but I'm wanting to know what to do next.

I have three (3) gallon pots, which I'm going to eventually poke holes in to get some air flow and I'm going to put the pots in an aluminum tray on the bottom for some reflectivity.

I do also have some Auto shade aluminum reflective surfaces that I can use which I was planning on adhesing to the surface of the wood on the window and try to surround everything with aluminum.

Was also thinking of using the mini blinds with aluminum on one side to also help with reflectivity if you think that's a good idea?

But my main concern right now is which type of LED.

I'm looking at a few options so far.

I wanted to get something that has individual control over the red and blue spectrums as well as having a UV and infrared and white light.

The area that the pots are in is 36 Inches Long by 10 Inches Wide.

I'm also planning on putting strawberries on the other side of the window outside so I'm hoping for a grow light that could reach out there as well which is probably going to add another 8 in in length the other way.

As I said earlier the sun doesn't really hit here except for during the summer and even then I only get like 1 hour of direct sun and the rest of the days indirect Sun.

Here's the lights I'm looking at so far:

As well as my growing area in the window.

If you have any other suggestions for what kind of lighting would be good for this area, please let me know!

Thank you.

Check Craiglist. There should be lots of lights there for sale. Just curious, but what made you want to move to SF? I get why you'd want to move out of Eastern WA. I prefer Western WA. Once you go over the mountains it's a totally different climate.

I lived in Truckee for years, so I'd visit Sac and SF sometimes. The whole West Coast has pretty nice climates.

The Spider Farmer SF1000D might be one of the better LEDs you can purchase on a budget. It’s currently at about $85 on Amazon:

Though it’s advertised for a 2x2”
Sadly that will be too wide to fit in the window and has to be able to fit behind the blinds.

I'm looking at 10 in maximum for the width of the light however the length could be as much as 38 in and the height of the light doesn't matter so much.

The spider ️ looks to be 12 inches wide.

There's better options on Amazon. Don't get a blurple.
Yeah I'm trying to stay away from a true blurple...

I have a grow light right now that is a mix of white red and blue + uv/ir

I'm using this one from my Primrose and other flowers that I will be growing in this area.

Was really cool to mount it under the table.IMG_20220210_164619.jpg

Sadly that's too wide...

Let me show you more pictures of my window so you can see what my grow space is.☮

Right where the 3 gallon buckets are in the window from glass to glasses about 36 in if we're including the whole entire edge of the window and then it's about 42 inches

And from where the pots touch the window to the end of the window pane wood on the bottom it's about 10 in... And my mini blinds are basically about 12 in out from the window itself so that's why I wanted to stay at about 10 in because I want to be able to close the blinds.

Especially when I have to leave the plant light on long as the window is right by my bed.

Another reason why I think it's a good idea too keep the light behind the blinds is I can put aluminum on the blinds themselves and turn those into their own reflector essentially turning the window into sort of a makeshift kind of tent area... Well sort of just sort of a hybrid... I want to make the most about what I've got to get the best grow.

But for three plants I think what i have found so far would work..

I really want this one with the remote and the timer and the humidity and temperature gauge built into one little unit.

I've been looking at videos of this particular light and yeah it's a blurple but it has more of the white Spectrum as well when you see it... It has all of the lights that you want the infrared the UV and everything.

Have a remote control seems like a good idea to me.

That being said I don't want to get it if it's not going to give me a good grow.
