I'm doing this now with my current grow, it wasn't on purpose though, just worked out that way when setting the timer (need to upgrade that thing) doing a 11/13 flower lighting schedule. I don't know what my actual PAR is though. Meter gets here Wednesday. Per LUX calculations..I could be 800 or 1000 at the moment..lol..so happy I pulled the trigger on the PAR meter.

From the video posted above we see that usable light falls between 400-700 nanometers (the range of all the colors of light). Most PAR meters out there can't even measure that. The FULL range. They fall short of the 700 mark. Check the lighting diagrams for the said meter your looking at. The Apogee instruments for example have improved on their original sensors here in this diagram.

Can you name some of the “most“ you are talking about that don’t measure said wavelengths?

Happy to hear you bought a meter, they really do come in handy I’ve found moving from room to room to gather data and stuff. But the same could’ve been had for much cheaper

Well...minus shipping and taxes ..but yeah, I did. Buddy/Member here has been saying I should get a PAR meter for the longest. Always in my mind...and I almost grabbed the MQ100...but then saw the listing on Ebay (for the MQ500). Not the first one I've seen. Saw one go for $300... cried when I missed that one. So when I saw the $250 go up ...snatched it. and yes MQ 500 with wand.

Sweet can’t wait to see pics of it and your thoughts. Do you have the photon app for your cell phone you can compare it to?

I had it and used it on my last grow so very familiar with it, a nice tool to have, I can't knock it for anything , I've been using an Amazon LUX meter and using MIGRO (YouTuber) calculations to get a fix on PAR on this current grow. So I will be doing a comparisons of the Photone , LUX meter, and MQ500. I'm just as curious as you guys are.

Please make a post in the LED section with lots of pics and information regarding all 3 sensors used.

Im not sure of the accuracy of these Phone apps.. I Just downloaded one and tested it under a 10w led light bulb and it was showing me that it was putting out 700 a few cm from the light.. Not sure if thats possible
