Lately I've been thinking about leave to calyx ratios and also frost to bud size. All of the frostiest plants I've grown have had small buds. I've also noticed that big colas usually aren't very leafy. So I'm starting to wonder if it's like a balloon with dots where the more air that is blown into the balloon, the farther the distance between each dot. Maybe each bud has a predetermined amount of leaves and resin glands, and it's up to the grower to steer the plant into its optimal size. Some strains are leafy, but they are leafier when not grown to their full potential. Sometimes the full potential is small and frosty af.
This is probably completely wrong, but it sounds good in my head.
