Help with cloning(homemade aero)

When you close the led the stems go below the sprayers, try to raise the clones above the sprayers.
Water temp. Try to get the lowest rating GPM pump, run it 10 on 20 off. Pumps raise water's temps.
I average a 95% success rate in 10_14 days, no rooting hormones, just tap water.

Hey guys would appreciate some critiques to help achieve success in cloning, any input is welcome since this is my first try using this method, second attempt at cloning
first one was in rockwool, also failed hard, got no roots with 25 clones

those pics attached are my results(or lack of) after 25 days, for the first 10-15 day they looked amazing, no drooping or yellowing, them they started to degrade gradually to the point they are now
water is always between 25-27c(77-80f)
cuts where diped in iba powder and put in water for around a hour before going into the cloner
i´m using tap water that comes out around 80-90ppm
pump on a 15min on-off schedule
no nutrients, ph stable at 6.0 without any need to correct after first few days, did not need to top the water either, water thread with 0,8ml/L of 80% h2o2 every 5 days
ambient temp ranges from 26-28c(78,8-82,4f) and humidity is 60-70%
lighting is done by a cheap 15w led bulb hang 20cm(8in) from top of clones, 24h of light after 8h of darkness from the time they where cut
cant notice any build up of sludge in the stems, only some browning, so i´m not sure if the problem is contamination

my 2 mother plants are ready for cutting again, thinking about using mineral water now and ditching the h2o2 to use calcium hypochlorite

sorry for any broken english, its not my native language.
Hello POT NU, can I ask if you built the clone machine yourself. I ask because it looks as if when you shut the lid the spray heads are almost touching the lid. They should really be lower down. It should be so that from half way up in the tank its a mist spray environment. Another thing I notice is all the parts of your clones that are visable in the tank are not green but have a odd colour. They look as if air has gone into them, are they still firm from the bottom parts. Its best to take cuts from green fresh healthy growing tips with nice clean sharp blade, an then do it the simple way like myke has suggested an pictured an it should make it easier for you.

Your water is too warm. Get a water chiller or you can throw a frozen jug in the res. Super dilute hormonex or some other rooting solution and plain water work fine. Water temp is super important for getting your water saturated with oxygen. Every degree above about 72 and you hold exponentially less oxygen. It also gives rise to bacteria and algae.

100% well water 8.1 ph 99% success rate and yes my sprayers are directly on the stems

Not all well water is the same though....What temps do you run at?

I'm just telling him what my teacher told me and what works great for me....Which was to use RO water as it has less bacteria. That was @Aeroknow, but whatever works.

Truth is there are many ways to get healthy clones...You just have to find one that works for you constantly and stick with it.

I know others who also get roots from water only. Mine turn to mush every time on my well water, and I don't even feed my well water to my girls. I've tried it and it's not good.

My well water won’t even rise bread dough
But I use pool shock and it ends all issues temp is always a concern but I run about 77f and with the shock it stays good indefinitely
If my temps raise I just run timer on pump but that is rare like only before I change pumps as the get hot over time
Another thing I learned was that ez cloner have pumps that are way oversized and draw to much power
I always run about half mfg rec

I wont use cloners without pool shock.

back in my actual aero days, pre-internet, i had no problems using city tap water at different grows all around the bay area.Only once I switched to RO water did I have root problems. RO water was supposed to be the shit no mater what! According to internet heads on overgrow. Fuck that shit! Costed me allot of money. But anyways i’d still nowadays rock the shock even in city water just to make sure.
I didn’t get into cloners until a few years back and i learnt to use pool shock and never had a problem.

this is coming from a dude who went back to cloning in trays of cubes(plugs) once my cloners burned in the fire lol. I used to clone i to oasis cubes for years. Once rooted they would go right into my tubes in flower. No room for error.

Since yesterday i made this thread i turned the pump off but kept the cuttings there just out of laziness and yesterday i saw signs of roots forming in two cuttings, today i can see this in seven total, so maybe the thing about keeping them too wet can be a a factor, also i stopped putting h2o2 a week or so ago.
could be also just coincidence and the genetic cold be kinda slow to form roots on clones.
not roots yet buy those bumbs, also some are a kinda greenish and not pure white, maybe now there bacteria starting to grow in there because i stopped adding h2o2.

The coincidence , I'll bet, is that with the pump off the temps dropped.

Because it's winter my cloner has been running 24/7 to keep the temps where I want...mid to low 70's, so they are constantly wet. That's not an issue at all.

Glad you are seeing some nubs though!!

the water temp is always 1c below room temp, even with the pumps running, so i don't think that's that.

I mix up a gallon of the pool shock, which lasts a long time. To make your shock, take 2 grams of 73% sodium hypochlorite and dilute it in 1 gallon of water, and then add 15 ml of this solution every 3 days to your cloner, starting from day 1. This will keep things sterile.
how many gallons of water your cloner reservoir holds? só i can know the amount of solution i would use.

hey guys, just want tanks everyone for the help, starting to get roots now within 10 days, 10 out of 22 cuttings showing 1 to 2 cm roots already.
used bottled water this time, 5ppm of calcium hypoclorite, no iba and scraped the ends of the stems a little, also got the pump running on 15on 30off(did not affect water temps at all)

I skipped over everything and am just gonna post how simply I clone with 100% success.

Step 1. Soak rockwool in cup of water for 15 min.

Step 2. Cut clone with clean sharp s35v blade.

Step 3 prune cuttings lower branches and leaves if any and scrape the membrane off the bottom ¾inch of the cutting.

Step 4. Get rockwool out of cup and insert cutting into rockwoll.

Step 5 place under a gentle WHITE light with almost no air flow on them... just a tiny wiggle here and there.

Step 6 wait 10 to 14 days watering with minimal nutrient charge when cubes begin to get light untill you see roots on the bottom. At this point if you used a small cube you could stack the cutting onto another for more root space and to give it more height later on in your net pot or whatever.

Step 7. Once you clearly have roots it's ready to move on but they can be live in the cube(s) for a week or 2 and grow if need be.

No dome or misting or anything. I could push my clones harder but I have all the time in the world and i dont push myself that hard so who cares. these start off with such nice roots and no lie I have 0 problems

Everything sounds right enough I think all you need is some patience, Fwiw i'd use bleach or hypochlorite imo H202 doesn't warrant it's price for this application.

My water temps are fairly stable around 23c with a ambient room temp of 25c-65/70%rh, neat tap water and some gentle agitation in place of bubble stones and a air pump.

Uhm
Ok
I’m just gonna skip thru all that and describe my process
Never change water in my ez cloner add pool shock occasionally
Add cuttings wait 10-14 days
Remove rooted clones to final medium

sup guys, got nearly 100% success rate in this attempt, only 2 of 22 are not showing roots yet
but i need some help once again, should i put some light feed in the water now? when to transplant them? how to choose the best cuttings?
going to choose the best 15 to create a SOG in clay pellets, so they are going straight into 12/12.

Very good, just patience was it?
Yes now I'd add some nutrient around 0.6/7ec.
Transplant whenever it suits you afaik there's no hard fast rules, personally i like the roots being established in the medium but it's not always possible.
For the best ones you'll see yourself which ones to keep or you could post some pictures and ask for some opinions.

If i was going straight to 12-12 I'd let them establish a root ball of some sort.

Only add nutrients to cloner if you plan to clean and replace the water
Otherwise just transfer them to next medium add a little pool shock to cloner and start again
Good job btw
