DIY SCROG BUILD

A true scrog is fixed in place and you weave the plants.

If during flower you need additional support then I’ve seen people add secondary nets to support that but I will be weaving the plants stems through the net So adjusting height is going to damage stems.

When you flop a net over some plants and just spread them out it’s not actually a real scrog.

It’s net support.

I'll agree to disagree. As I have no pics of my leggy girls and 18-24" of growth woven for flatness. Not support. LOl. A good strong fan makes stems plenty strong. I'm bowing out before one us annoys the other. Have a great day or night where you are. And ty for the converation. I'll be more aware of differing methods in the future.

I've never not scrogged. Mainly because I have a very low ceiling. I use yoyos instead of a second net when I need them, which isn't always necessary. I meant adjusting the height before adding the plants. I have veg and flower rooms, and sometimes my timing is off a little and I need to raise the net to fit vegging plants that grow too tall.

so, just to make sure I keep everything in one place lol

wasn’t nice having hot fuzz take a good producing mother away with 8 clones and 4 plants in flower lol.

Open discussion around experience is never going to end up with any annoyance don’t worry my good man.

I’ve been growing the herb since 2009 and tried many varying things.

Coco, soil, hydro, let them be, train them hard, lollypopping, defoliation, feed them heavy, feed them light, use root inoculations or don’t, predatory insects, pests and IPM’s.

I’ve been around the block a few times lol.

Like I said just never dedicated my entire space to SCROG only.

Little update from this evening.

Current EC0.8 pH6 temp RH can be seen in the pic.

Feeding daily.

plants have been thinned out a little bit and then leaders have been topped.

won’t be long and I’ll be switching to flower then continue to fill the net.

I doubt I will keep the clone due to the current canopy and what I expect this strain to stretch (white Siberian Dinafem).

Update for those looking at what’s happening.

Day 35 of 12/12 was yesterday when pics were taken.

EC 1.0 feeding daily at pH6.0

As you can all see the scrog has not become unmanageable.

I flipped at approx 60% full and still have some space left in the front of the screen.

I continued tucking for 2 weeks of 12/12 and then after this began trimming here and there underneath the canopy to remove anything that wasn’t receiving a decent amount of light through the dense canopy.

Looks good man I try an go with the smaller holes it’s easier to weave your plant what is the size of that net I made mine but would really like that is it a 5’x5’ nvm I was talking about the net on page one with the 2” holes

It was 1m x 1m.

Was wondering if anyone knows what material for the netting is best. What I am questioning is the spreading of fibers from cutting the netting, which can then contaminate the buds. So, is a nylon synthetic material going to leave alot of nasty fibers, so maybe a plastic type string would eliminate this?

I’ve used the same net twice!

Ok, yes I suppose that is possible, but alot of people harvest and hang whole plants, which wouldn't work. If you "weave" and do true scrog, thus again would force you to cut a bunch of small pieces of branches. I guess it depends how you want to harvest for drying.

3”x3” net fitted.

I’ve used zip ties to hold it to the frame and by doing so has given me the ability to slide the net up and down on each frame side if I need to. View attachment 4836123

I was going to make a similar scrog, I was going to make the legs out of 18mm and 20mm pvc tubing, drill holes, and the outside tubing would slide up and a bolt would go in the hole, both pieces of pvc, so you could adjust the height every 2-3"

I’ve been thinking about 4 way corner pieces where this scrog is now and then use the 3 ways I take off to create another layer, that’s just a thought at the moment.

I want to keep going with a single net scrog for now as it’s still fairly new to me and I want to create more uniformity across the entire scrog with extra training and selective pruning.
