DIY SCROG BUILD

3 way connectors have arrived.

once My kids are asleep the build will commence during feeding night lol.

Initial framing complete. Took 8mins to work out my width and cut and fit.

you can also see my door to my corridor. Behind that door is a 3ft wide walkway with a 10ft long walk to a built in storage cupboard (my grow).

And while I was waiting for the first 2 pics to upload I’ve done the legs lol.

I’ve decided I’m going to run with the 3” net when it arrives.

then I can judge if I want to try the 2” after that lol.

3”x3” net fitted.

I’ve used zip ties to hold it to the frame and by doing so has given me the ability to slide the net up and down on each frame side if I need to.

Time to hold my hands up.

due to having a room that is almost done I jumped the gun and cut my legs to fit on my drip trays.

after the fact then realised my drip Trays are not 1m in length lol.

so the legs of my scrog need to reach the floor lol.

which after me cutting them they don’t lol.

simple fix. Ordered more 1m 20mm conduit pieces and a couple of connectors just incase it happens again lol.

lesson learned. Finalise your measurements with an empty room lol.

Feet have arrived along with the extra 1m lengths of 20mm conduit and the connectors so I should finally have the ability to finish this completely once my room is empty but I will fit it together tonight to show you all.

One plant left to harvest.

it’s watering day today so I’ll take the plant out and fit the screen into place including cutting the opposite side legs etc.

my plan is to run 3 plants

similar to the picture here.


This will give me approx 10x5 of the squares for each plant.

each plant will start one one long side and grow across to the opposite long side.
In the picture for example from left side to right side.

So my test fit went better than expected.

As my grow room is a walk in closet there used to be shelves in the side where the fan is located.

the previous battens are holding the scrog on one side and the electrical socket is holding the other side.

Plants are happy and growing well.

The pot size of the 2 is 18L.

The clone will most likely end up in an 11L pot in a stand to keep it up etc.

I see one small concern. How are you adjusting your net height? The net needs to be placed at the height the plants determine after flipping. My experience in my scrogs. A thought for you before it becomes obvious. Looking good beyond that.

I built a solid frame during initial first set up. Thought I could determine the final height. WRONG. LOL. Just never glue the frame in place. I used a very similar design. I ended up drilling the corner connectors out on the vertical sleeve. Making a hole that the upright frame poles could slide through. Then I just screwed a self tapping metal screw into the inside of the connector. Backed it out, 4 in total. Added thumb screws and I had an easily adjustable net. I just attach to tent poles now when time. No more expenses or addition clutter in my tent.

Hope I gave a few decent tips. Once was you. LOL.

No plans to glue my frame it all comes apart for slightly easier storage.

I’ve done some single plant SCROGS before but never ventured into a full room screen.

You realise that I’ll be weaving these plants into the scrog to create an actual scrog.

The net will be 75% full before I even flip to flower and then I’ll continue weaving until full and then strip off anything that’s not worth keeping etc.

That’s how a real SCROG should actually be done.


When you use a net after flipping all you’re doing is using it for support.

Just on a bigger scale lol.

When I first read about scrogs around 10 years ago it reference 60-75% full your screen and then flip and continue filling the remainder of the screen.

Then cut anything below the screen and thin out if you need to above the screen.

I have the same setup, but I hang mine with ratchet ropes instead of using legs. It makes adjusting the height easy, but it also allows me to slide overgrown vegging plants in without much hassle by lifting up one side and lowering it as I spread the branches out.

A true scrog is fixed in place and you weave the plants.

If during flower you need additional support then I’ve seen people add secondary nets to support that but I will be weaving the plants stems through the net So adjusting height is going to damage stems.

When you flop a net over some plants and just spread them out it’s not actually a real scrog.

It’s net support.
