Tahoe OG x Stardawg SIP Coot Mix.

Hey Folks,

Getting ready to flip soon, but she still has a few more weeks. I have 2 males in 2 gallon pots and a suspected female in a 5 gallon. I mix my own soil and make my own worm castings. The soil is Coot’s Mix and is probably on its 5 cycle. Last grow was in a Earthbox Jr, but this year I’m building my own, just deciding between 12 gal and 17. My plants are 2 months old and just wanting bigger lateral growth. The strain is by Greenpoint Seed, California Cannon (Tahoe OG x Stardawg). Leaves are big and dark green, definitely smells like Stardawg but a lot more funk, as well her structure is more Stardawg. In another week, no more than two, I’ll be transplanting her in her final resting place and wait a week to flip.

The lights are HLG Quantum Board, it’s at least 3 years old, can’t remember the model but it goes up to 272 watts pulling from the outlet.

Hey folks,

small update. Got some mullein leaves from the farm I work at. They are bioaccumulate plants with lots of nutrients. Tomorrow I’m going to give them a wash then chop them up and use them as mulch. I’ll probably put some in my worm bin as well.

I use my worm bin as a nutrient incubator. Not only do I feed them fruits, veggies, and newspapers, but meals and nutrients. I put a few table spoons of crab meal in it today, apparently that helps with their reproductive cycle as well. It’s also how I dispose of my plants. I’ll remove the plants and the roots and feed it to my worms, it usually gone within a few weeks.

I’m going to transplant the female (confirmed) into a large SIP container, hopefully by this weekend. It seems like it’s hitting a wall with growth. The transplant should do the trick.

I took a pH test and it was between 6-6.5, which I think is too low. There are people who will tell you in Organics the microbes regulate the pH. Maybe they do to a certain extent but not overall. As soil breaks down and your roots take in nutrients, your soil becomes more acidic. So I top dressed with a tbsp of Root’s Organic’s Cal Mag; It’s not very water soluble. I also put a couple tbsp of Crab Meal (4-3-0), 3-4 cups of Bu’s and Worm Castings. I also washed Mullein and chopped it up top dressing the composts on top. I watered it in with Silicate and Great White myco’s. It also got a foliar spray of FPJ (Borage) and citrus ferment with Dr Brauners peppermint soap. Hopefully I’ll get the SIP constructed tomorrow

6 weeks 6 days. Thinking more about bud size I did do a whole bunch of topping and super cropping trying to fill in the trellis before flip. Following colas back to see which were topped you can see the size difference between ones that weren’t. The canopy is definitely too full. I’ll be going...

I grew out their Stardawg f2, and loved it. Great yield, taste, and excellent stone. It didn’t give me couch lock, but could give others that, but it stoned the hell out of you. I grew 5, and took the first female I found and gave others away. I’m growing California Cannon which is Stardawg x Tahoe OG. Popped 10 (1seed didn’t sprout, but I believe it was my fault, I had them in water for over 48 hours) tossed 3 out for room but I think they were the Tahoe OG phenotypes, they were tall and thought they were males. Out of the remaining 6, one was a female, but I had my eye on her from the beginning, I loved the stink on it. The stem rub is OG, but her growth is more like the Stardawg, she’s squat with dense branches. Hell of a root system too. I transplanted her a week ago into a 5 gal from a 2 and she’s already outgrown it.

People are upset about Gu f2 the Stardawg, he didn’t get permission, however Stardawg wasn’t being sold at the time from the original breeder. I don’t grow cookie crosses, because of their tendency to be unstable. I’m aware Chemdog is a little unstable as well, but I didn’t have any problems with them.

Check Out JBCseeds and seeds here now. Useful seeds is a great breeder, but he’s retiring. Stray fox is reasonable with prices, but I haven’t grown any of his stuff yet. He runs in circles of breeders that are respectable. Check out Jinxproof Genetics as well, decent price for great genetics. You can order from his website and he’s a solid dude.

Hey folks,

I moved my two males in another room and started flowering. They are not in the best place to flower, but I just need a little pollen. The females is right in center of the light and showing some discoloration, maybe I added too much calcium or maybe it was the bat guano. Who knows. Yeah haven’t transplanted her yet, but will do by the end of this weekend. I did some more light pruning, and the pic below is before pruning. The petioles are a little red but I’m not to worried about it. Can’t wait to flower her

Damn y’all I forgot to post up that I constructed the SIP. My bad, I posted on IG but forgot to put it in here.

3 days ago I put her in a 12 gallon bin with 3> gallons of water reservoir. I put a 6” net pot in the middle and filled it with wet soil. I put a thin layer of newspapers on the bottom, to keep the soil from dropping into the water. There are many worms in my soil, so I expect it to decompose or let’s roots grow through it or both.

I’m still deciding on putting a lid over the soil, right now I have hay and dead sweet potato vines (from my garden) covering the soil, tonight I’ll pasteurize more hay and top it. I think I’ll keep the mulch on and not put a top on. The soil is keeping really moist… maybe too much moisture. But mulch is how I feed my and soil.

I’m going to keep it in veg for at least another week and a half. Then flip the lights. I have a male flowering in another room, which I’ll use the pollen on the female I have now. I’m also going to try and clone her after the male is done. I think the male has like another week or two before it’s done.

Hey Folks,

We’re closing in on 3 months veg, and next week I’ll be flipping. It’ll be two weeks on Tuesday (4 more days) that she’s been in the sip. She’s really drinking water now, I have to fill up the <3 gallon reservoir every couple days. The soil has sank at least an inch maybe two, which leads me to believe the root structure has gotten much bigger and is pulling the soil down. Well that, and compaction.

I was having some temperature issues the past few days, low temps in the day time like 73-75. I have always been told you want low 80’s with LED’s because of the leaf temperature. I corrected the problem last night and the green really came back, not too mention the plant was praying.

I top dressed with 6 tbsp of Kelp meal and 5 tbsp of Dr Earth’s Flower Girl Bloom booster (3-9-4). I’ll be harvesting my Worm castings today and she’ll get topped with a gallon of that tonight. I find it’s best to add compost with your top dressings, makes them break down. I also use an old coffee grinder to pulverize the fertilizer making the breaking down and release of nutrients faster. I’m topping now ahead of the flip to give time for the top dress to break down and be available during the stretch. I’m letting the water in the reservoir get low so I can water the nutes in with rain water.

she really needs a net up, I’ll be doing that before flip.

Hey folks,

we’re closing in on flipping to 12/12. I harvested the pollen from my male and took 10 clippings to clone. I didn’t get as much pollen as I liked, but nevertheless I’ll use it. I’m going to give the plant a few days to recover then put her in 24 of darkness the go to 12/12. The branches are nice and thick, so that should provide ample flowers. I also pruned quite a bit to thin it out and give space for the buds to fill out. I top dressed nine days ago and won’t again for two weeks. There’s enough nutes in the soil and my plant isn’t looking the happiest.

since moving the lights to 24 inches above the canopy, the plant has reacted better. A lot less taco-ing of the leaves and better color. I have also stopped filing the reservoir until the soil is not as moist then giving enough to saturate the soil. Although I did give it a top water with FPJ (borage), silicate, and great white mycos, the next watering will be in the reservoir. The temps are 81 and RH is 55-65. About 9 hours after the light is on, the plant is praying, just looks a little janky right now.

Just a quick update until I flip it. The plant seemed like it took the heavy pruning well. I took off 11 branches for clones and took off some more side shoots that were not getting enough light, or were too close to thick branches. I’m getting it ready for flowering and don’t want crowding. There will be no more pruning until two weeks after flowering. I’ll be constructing a scrog screen this weekend and hope to have it up before the flip. I’ll give it a watering in the reservoir but only give it a 1.5 gallons. I’m still getting used to this sip, but I don’t want more water than it needs in the reservoir. During flowering it will probably drink more water, which would make it more efficient. I think I will give it another feeding on Tuesday which makes two weeks since I last fed it. Tonight I’ll give it a foiliar feed with FPJ (Borage).

With the clones I dipped them in rooting powder (the only non-organic substance I use) then made a hole where I sprinkled Great White Mycos in. The soil is left over seedling mix that I made (45% aeration, 45% Peet, 10% EWC) then topped it with a cup of EWC and watered it in. I have 9 in red solo cups filled halfway and one in a peet puck. I feel really good about these rooting.I’ll be giving some to friends and then will keep one. Depending on how she does I may keep a mother, but that’s not certain.

On Monday (3 more days) I will flip it and will wait 11 weeks at least until harvest. The breeder’s notes say to give the Stardawg pheno 11 weeks and other websites give Tahoe OG 10 weeks. I’m going long just to ensure maximum maturation. Other than getting used to the watering with this SIP, I don’t foresee any major problems. 3 weeks into flowering I’ll move my dehumidifier into the room (not tent) to get the humidity low.

Alright I’m going to upload the pics again except keep them as thumbnails.

the first picture is a male that i kept. His stem rub was consistently sour and had more of a diesel chemical background (not very pronounced, just in the background) rather than the rest which was woodsy. The woodsy-ness reminded me of a shed that was in a house I grew up in that had a toy train set up. The fragrance immediately transported me back, but I didn’t use those plants, the sour was way more enticing.

The third photo is my clone room which will house my seedlings and veg plants. Maybe even a mother if this plant turns out to be special. This is the plant I have had my eye on since the beginning because she’s a stinker. Her fragrance was more pronounced and satisfying so I’m glad she turned out to be a female. Right now the stem rub is OG with raw meat, like meatloaf or a hamburger. My girlfriend says she smells guava, I know there is a phenotype of Stardawg known as the guava Stardawg. Chances are that fragrance won’t stick around, but I wouldn’t mind if it did. I’m not saying this is the Stardawg guava pheno, but it’d be sweet if it had that fragrance. Her branches are super hardy, this plant is the most tough. You have to use pruning scissors, I can’t pinch them off with my nails because it’s so tough.

Alright folks, flipped the lights 3 days ago and she’s looking great. I turned the fans away from the plants so it hits the wall and diffuses the wind power to move through out the plant without being on them directly. I was reading about how it causes your leaves to taco (which was happening) as well apparently it fucks up the transpiration. Since then the humidity has gone up <65% and all the leaves are praying. I also turned down the light and started filling the reservoir less. I might go another day w/o filling the reservoir, and just do a light watering from the top, to deliver the nutrients from the worm castings and nutes that I top dressed with. Then fill the reservoir with as much water as needed to saturate the soil. The plant has responded well and is going into full mode. Then again it’s in the 12/12 light schedule so that probably has more to do with it. I did some light pruning today, I really need to put up a net.

the stem rub had a very guava scent to it, however I don’t expect it to stick around. Stem rubs are finicky, I think they might reveal what’s in the lineage if anything. I had a Blue Dream x chocolate diesel which had Thai in its lineage, like direct lineage. During veg the stem rub smelled like juicy fruit, a terp that is associated with Thai strains. Not even a hint of it appeared in the final product. The berry and diesel ended up in it, blueberry terps were never never apart of the growing fragrances. Still one can hope.

The clones have been going for a week, still no roots insight. I hope I get at least one, but we’ll see. I have read it takes up to 2 weeks for them to root. I’m going to buy some aloe Vera leaves and blend it up and water them with it.

Hey folks,

Today (Monday) is the last day of week 1 of flowering and she is gaining steam. The growth has become more and more vigorous as the days of 12/12 go one. There is a slight light leak on one of the lower intakes, but it’s very minor. Still going to patch it up, plus I really need to put a net down. Other than that, there have been no deficiencies, a little nutrient burn, but it was pretty minor. Since pointing the fan away from the leaves, it has slowed the purple-ing of the stems and petioles. I had no idea how much of a negative effect direct fan blowing has on the leaves and growth. The leaves are praying heard and the stems are putting on more girth.

The stem rub is guava, with unripe bananas. From far away you can smell the beginning of OG. Again I don’t expect Guava or banana to carry through but we’ll see. When I grew Stardawg (the one of the parents) it was pretty consistent with fragrances, although it did become more developed as flowering came to a close.

I’m still on the fence about judging harvest time by trichomes. One plant I grew, never had their trich’s turn amber. Then again it could have been the excess nutrients in the soil, as well there could have been a light leak. Also when that happened I was still a noobie. This is my 8th grow and I’m still getting the hang of it. Switching to Coot’s mix was definitely a game changer. Anyways hope y’all are doing well

To combat light leak issues, instead of obsessing over every possible point of failure on the tent, I decided to hang 3ml black plastic as a light barrier. My tent is in the basement against one wall. I hung the plastic on two of the sides, giving a foot clearance between the tent and the plastic. Then a curtain rod and another sheet of plastic as a curtain for the front that I can open and close. Standing in that space with the lights on in the basement, it's pretty dark. Standing inside the grow tent, and can't see a thing.

Figured I would share my approach to the issue. Tents are going to have light leaks and will probably form new leaks over time.

yeah I definitely had to stop obsessing over small things. I take things a day at a time, I figure I’ll be gardening the rest of my life so it doesn’t have to be perfect. Thanks for sharing your ten cents. I’m going to have my girlfriend zip me in the tent to see if there is anything’s major. I don’t think there is but who knows. Also this is a process I will make mistakes, just gotta learn from em
