Another story that proves guns make people safer

whether true or not, it seems like you're just collecting all the available firearms in the area so someone can steal all of them at one time...
i have thumb print trigger locks on my shotgun and rifle, and my pistols are either on me, or locked in a safe that's bolted to wall studs when i go out of the house.

Too many guns on the streets is part of the problem. How would you handle implementing severe restrictions on carrying?

I have only lived in coastal states where carry limitations have always qualified as severe. So imo that one is “problem solved”, look to CA or MS law

well, first i would make it a federal law that there are no more person to person undocumented sales, period. anywhere.
then, make it a federal law that you MUST have a license to carry, concealed or otherwise, superseding state "constitutional carry" laws.
i'd pass a law that says if you don't report the theft of a weapon within 48 hours, you are liable for any crimes committed with that weapon.
i'd make the wait at least two weeks, or as long as it takes to thoroughly check someone looking to buy a handgun, and give those performing the checks no leeway, these questions MUST be answered, and you have to document where you got the information from.
i'd say those 4 measures would be a good place to start...

On 1, yes.
On 2, hmm, too much there for now .
On 3, I suggest “within 48 hours of finding out”
On 4, that has already been SOP in the states I’ve known for decades.

3 i was going to say 24 hours, gave them 48, any more than that and they could use it to get away with selling a weapon, then acting surprised that it was gone...
4 you can buy a gun from a gun shop here the same day if you pass the background check, they call it TICS, the Tennessee Instant Check System...

The disparity between state laws has always confused me. Some of our laws are too loose and some are too tight. I’d like to see a consensus standard applied.
