What would you have wanted Trump do if his raging tools had managed to kill his political enemies in Congress and deny us the choice for president that we voiced when we cast our votes?

He said they didn't care about Trump on Jan 6.
I can understand why he wants us to forget what happened. After all, it was, at the end of the day, a complete failure. The failed coup backfired on Trump and his followers. So, he lies about it.
What I don't understand is what he thinks he's accomplishing here with his lies. We are laughing at him. I don't think that was his objective.
