Spider Mites - Long-Term Solution

Hi all,

I have had issues with spider mites in my tent for about a year now. It is a 65-gallon pot with organic, no-till soil. I've tried neem, dr. bronners, and just spraying with straight water. These seem to deal with them in the short term, but they always come back.

I've read that they need live plant matter to survive. So, my plan was to remove plants from my tent for a few months, and deal with the eggs with neem or something else to get rid of them once and for all.

Any thoughts/suggestions on how I should go about this?

For both indoor and outdoor, I do preventative maintenance for mites and other bugs by doing foliar and root drench weekly with neem, spinosad, and bt. I stop spraying when buds start forming. I don't spray anything on my buds. Even if I do a thorough clean and bug bomb in between grows, if I don't do preventative maintenance, pests eventually come back.

Easiest, cheapest and most effective way is to hang a No Pest Strip in the room your tent is in.

I've never used one of the hotshot strips. Reading about it, the description says it emits a toxic insecticide vapor. Any room where it is should not be occupied more than four hours per day. I'm not sure if it would leave any residue on you're buds of it were in the same room. I wouldn't keep one inside my house, maybe in the garage, basement, or attic though.

I would have it in a tent with an exhaust fan blowing outside, would that be sufficient? and would it get rid of the mites in the soil as well?

If you are going to stop growing to get rid of them, you need to hit the entire room with all grow epuipment and supplies with two fog sprays listed below. DO NOT USE THESE WITH PLANTS IN THE ROOM!!! After this, you need to then concern yourself with not bringing them into the area

try not to track them in from outside whilst checking your grow op, it cud be on your clothing or equipment etc.

I had them bad for a my last grow, and abit at the start of this current grow. I used a garlic and pepper spray, it did have pyrethrum in it also, it actully worked really well. Maybe something along those lines if you cant get spinosad. I didn't have access to spinosad.

They dont like humidity, and cold.so make enviroment like that.

And then predator mites.

I havent had any come back yet. but we will see

BT is Bacillus thuringiensis, a bacteria that creates a protein toxic to specific larvae.

Which predator mites work for spider mites? Again, I am in Canada, so they may be harder to find.
