QAnon conspiracy theorists and other right-wing extremists are piggybacking on social media support for Britney Spears to smuggle their content into the mainstream.

Right-wing conspiracy theorists have been tying the pop singer's legal battle to escape her father's conservatorship to Qanon's web of lies, after a recent documentary and new developments in the case have heightened public awareness of her situation, reported online researcher Jared Holt for the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab.

"Who exposed the pedo network in Hollywood?" claimed QAnon conspiracist Liz Crokin, who set up a Telegram channel devoted to Spears' situation. "You will laugh when details are exposed. Paris? Britney? Miley? Kim? Never underestimate the genius of this [QAnon] operation."

Right-wing talk show host Glenn Beck compared Spears' situation to "red flag" gun laws, and InfoWars attorney Robert Barnes warned conservatives could expect to be placed under similar legal restrictions.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who's facing a sex trafficking investigation, appeared at a #FreeBritney rally in Washington, D.C., after co-signing a letter with conspiracy-mongering Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Burgess Owen (R-UT) inviting Spears to testify before Congress about her predicament.

"A count of appearances on alternative social media platforms popular with far-right users conducted via the Social Media Analysis Toolkit (SMAT) found a noticeable uptick in Spears-related chatter in recent months," Holt reported.
"On a forum board populated by the remnants of a pro-QAnon community banned from Reddit in 2018, more than two dozen threads have appeared in recent months discussing Spears."

"Human energy is being harvested without permission", now where else have I heard something along those lines...
If you don't mind a little "spin" on the quoted, I'd say that human energy certainly is. One harvesting culprit is Social Media. I'm not sure if people realize how much energy (both positive and negative) they are wasting on it instead of actually doing something to benefit themselves and society in general.

Just a thought.

You're right that it's not totally wrong. There always has to be a little slice of truth included, however small, because that's what the illegitimate portion of something uses to gain validity. But, I always hate blaming the "thing", because it removes responsibility/accountability. As in, if only guns/media/religion/whatever could be made in this perfect configuration, then they wouldn't cause me to use them irresponsibly. Believe it or not, even the people that we think we "oppose", actually want us to think that way, because it keeps them in business with us never actually solving anything.

But what you are describing is virtually all labor though right? For real is someone working at a oil field not contributing to the burning of fossil fuels that is driving up temperatures. Sure they are not getting paid much, but everything we do has positive/negative impacts on our society.

This troll was making $50k+ as a troll for years.
Eventually I think this guy has a point, that eventually the economics of 'social media' is going to have to change. People are providing free labor, and the people who are funding these trolling operations are using their labor to con our society.

Wrong video. This is the one that he describes how to change the economics of the internet. "Data Dignity"

I was describing the amount of energy people use to allow their views to be "heard" in their virtual vortex of thoughtlessness when getting to the nuts and bolts of an issue. In an abstract way of course. ;) But what you describe also has a direct correlation to that process of wasted energy.. Just not what their jobs demand them to do. I worked in the Oil industry for a number of years so for that discussion point I'm squarely in the middle of the fence. Much like most of what I observe.

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy says the GOP won’t participate in a House investigation of the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol if Democrats won’t accept the members he appointed.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday rejected two of McCarthy’s five picks to the panel, Indiana Rep. Jim Banks, who was tapped to be the top Republican on the panel, and Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan.

McCarthy said in a statement that Pelosi’s move was “an egregious abuse of power and will irreparably damage this institution.”

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below.

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is rejecting two Republicans tapped by House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy to sit on a committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, citing the “integrity” of the probe.

Pelosi said in a statement Wednesday that she would not accept the appointments of Indiana Rep. Jim Banks, whom McCarthy picked to be the top Republican on the panel, or Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan. Both are close allies of former President Donald Trump, whose supporters laid siege to the Capitol that day.

In the hours after the insurrection, both Banks and Jordan voted to overturn Joe Biden’s presidential victory. Pelosi said she had spoken with McCarthy and told him that she would reject the two names.

“With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi has the authority to approve or reject members, per committee rules, though she acknowledged her moved was “unprecedented.” She said in the statement that she had accepted McCarthy’s three other picks — Illinois Rep. Rodney Davis, North Dakota Rep. Kelly Armstrong and Texas Rep. Troy Nehls.

Like Jordan and Banks, Nehls voted to overturn Biden’s victory. Armstrong and Davis voted to certify the election.

Banks recently traveled with Trump to the U.S.-Mexico border and to visit him at his New Jersey golf course. Jordan was one of Trump’s most vocal defenders in his two impeachments.

Fuck them, go with Cheney and see if a couple of others like Kinzinger will join, responsible adults only. You can't have clowns like Jordan associated with the insurrection on the panel, the republicans knew it was a deal breaker anyway. The insurrection might be something the house could use inherent powers to deal with for those who refuse to testify anyway. I doubt Nancy would use the iron fist inside the velvet glove though, it might cost votes in 2022. It was an assault on the congress and house by the executive branch though and within their prerogative to invoke inherent powers to deal with it, or some aspects of it at least.

The GQP are going to pull a bullshit (fr)audit investigation in the house?

They are pretending like Nancy said that there was no investigations that would take it outside of only the date of the 6th.

When what the troll that the Republicans were doing was about the summer protests for a 'whataboutism'.

So a grown man that runs around the country in a costume and face paint has mental problems, who would have guessed.
