True LED Light Wattage??

this might be an investment i should consider given the nature of the industry
It's also good to have to make sure you keep your circuit safe. If you are running two 600 watt LED's on a 15 amp circuit with some fans and other stuff you would be cutting it very close to the cutoff line which is 12 amps for safety. 20% is the norm for safe amperage usage in this instance.

I did all this research just to find out recently that the wattage stated on these vendor's products aren't the true wattage of the lights at all many times being an entire 1/6th or lower. This really confuses me now. Can more experienced growers please give me insight into this? How is this so widespread when it looks like something a scam company would do?

I always heard an experienced grower can get around a gram a watt, but now I have no idea what to even aim for with a grow because the reported wattage for all of these lights seem to be totally deceiving! I wanted a 4x4 with 1200 watt LEDs but now I am starting to realize that is impossible with the budget I gave myself as the previous 2 lights that added up to 1200 were only 80 dollars for both, now for "true" wattage would be over 1,000 dollars! This seems criminal.

If any experienced growers can recommended me a reasonably priced LED grow light setup for 4 plants in a 4x4 I would really appreciate it, because I'm very lost now.
theres a big difference in quality leds and cheaper ones. Drivers, diodes, materials used, and not to mention customer service. They get the “1200” watts by say this shitting diode is 3watts x115 or whatever. However they know they can’t drive those shitty diodes anymore then .3 to .5 watts per getting an actual watt of 45 watts or whatever. You need true watts and figure your space based on that. the upfront cost is higher however overall cost comes down In the form of power usage, ac requirements, ending product is better in every aspect. In one grow your ROI is already there IF you can grow. these companies are what gave leds a bad name. Claiming 4000 watt lights pull 150 watts and ppl wondering why they got dismal harvest.

I just got the EZ8 to compare it to my $1400 Spydr 2p from Fluence by Osram. It's half the price and comes with the dimmer instead of an extra $125 and having to wire it in yourself.

The Fold 8 looks great too, I just assume get the more powerful of the two and dim as needed, but to each their own!

i am looking into the fold8. it looks nice and seems like a good long term light. more than i wanted to pay but it looks relatively cheaper than other lights with equal wattage and at this point i know im going to be spending more than i want to anyway.

thank you for this i didnt think of that. i might just run the lights on one outlet and pull the rest to a separate outlet

oh so thats how they get those figures. i guess i see the logic they are trying for but it still seems very dishonest

Remember this, more than one outlet could be linked to a circuit. Make sure you know where each outlet goes to which circuit.

I actually went around my whole house with a night light and plugged it in to each outlet. I then went back and forth from each outlet to my circuit box and made sure I knew every single outlet went to every single circuit.

Also check the ceiling lights. I ran into a huge problem with one circuit in my house had a ton of shit on it and I had no idea why. It was because the ceiling lights in my foyer, dining room and kitchen were all hooked up to the same circuit that ran the wall outlets in my bedroom and living room. What a pain in the ass that was to fix.

Been down that rabbit hole myself. Just invested in a BlueLab monitor and pH adjuster for my next grow! A lot upfront for sure, but you'll be set there longterm! I fully expect the EZ8 to compare extremely well to my Fluence light with 3rd party reviews I've seen for par maps and light test! Very excited to do a grow with it! Everything will be as close as possible to exact in my comparison. I'll be using seeds though and not clones so I admit I wish I could do better on that front. Ethos seeds ain't a bad genetic pool to start from though!

Check out migro on YouTube he is an independent tester of led lights might give you some more insight he tests lights for all budgets good luck op ☮

Yeah I got a “1000w” Chinese light off amazon before realizing it was really 110w.

I ended up getting a real light but I’m running a small plant under the cheap one and it works surprisingly well.

The one on the left has only been under the fake 1000w. So if you’re just screwing around or running small plants for seeds or whatever they do the job.

That's impossible if it draws 60watts from the wall it's a 60 watt light electricity comes from a power station how exactly would a light take 60 watts and turn it into 600watts get me some of these lights we're all doing it wrong if such a light truly exists
I got the pro with a switch from veg to flower just less than €30 inc delivery

LEDs are way more effective and efficient than older style hps/mh or even newer CMH lighting. Examples being what is out there for veg growth and how little actual wattage they us and give a grower tighter node spacing while using a fraction of the wattage older fluorescents used. Leds designed for clones require even less wattage.

Yeah I know mate I have a ts3000 and am a regular on the Migro YouTube channel now there's a light I wish I could afford maybe next year I'll upgrade to migro array 8

Running a few plants started under 6500k LEDs in a 8 tube T5 fixture in a 2x4 tent. All plants were started from seed in seedling mix then switched to fox farm ocean forest soil. Each plant is receiving different nutrients. Recently switched from the 6500k leds to 3500ish K sf 1000's (first generation) 200 actual watts which I used with a 315 cmh in my first successful 4x4 grow. Since switching the plants seem much happier.

One of these makes that so much easier. Although I can't find an argument for me running fewer stairs LOL

is the power draw and the output different if so how does it output more than it draws? it doesnt right it seems like that would be impossible. im an amateur in both of these fields, growing AND electrical so i feel like this practice of advertising inflated numbers is genuinely just to trick people like me into buying a subpar product!
It's "equivalent" as they say now a days I am definitely not a pro at them lol

For a 4x4 it seems that 600w is average to 1k hps. But some newer lights can cover a 4x4 with less wattage. 600 true watts works out to 37.5w per sq ft. You can flower with way less but this seems about average for a 4x4.
